It was a minor glitch. The index of one of the tables in the database related to the ads was assigned a to small length and as a result a new entry could not be added. This also happened on the home page, but did not result in an error there. On the forums the vBulletin software catches it. stops and sends me a mail. When I looked there were over 25.000 mails waiting for me. Cleaning those up took even longer than fixing the problem did.

I suspect you may want to turn that feature off, or at least put a filter on it! Thanks for the info.
