My son made me smile today.

I'm down hard with the flu, with fever and all. When I got up this morning and took a look in the bathroom mirror, I saw a puffy, sweaty face, greasy hair, sunken eyes …

Jaz: Aaaaaah!
Sonny: Mommy? What's the matter?
Jaz: Jeez, I look like a monster!
Sonny: Mommy, that's not true. You don't look like a monster at all! You look like a squirrel, and that's why I love you so much.

Best compliment ever. Better yet, he meant it.

Bart gets his name removed from the list one time for that one.

Bart and Corwin should just admit that when it gets down to it, I will have the final say.

Read it one or two hours ago in the chat window of DDO - kind of a Christmas time joke :

"How is Santa Claus called when he walks upon a beach ?

'Sandy Claus' …"

Reply of someone there (not me) : "Not all beaches have sand …"

Not sure if you can marry her; I've never seen the appropriate dialogue option come up.

A great example of black humour :

"The distance between capitalism and cannibalism becomes shorter from day to day." (Georg Kreisler, Austrian specialist for black humour, died few days ago)

LOL

Austria has a distinct kind of humour … at least according to the cliché. After Vienna = Wien, it's called the "Wiener Schmäh". I find it very difficult to translate this word, especially, since I'm not an Austrian myself, but as far as I understopod it, it's a humour with a strong tendency to dark or even black humour, it's like a spoiled humour, spoiled by irony and cynism, which comes so sweetly that it tastes like a "sweet bitterness" like in black chocolate the one with the highest percentages of cacao/cocoa in it). Yes, I think the term "sweet bitterness" describes it quite good - as far as I have understood it.

Here is an English-language discussion aroundthe term of "Schmäh" : http://dict.leo.org/forum/viewUnsolv…p=ende&lang=de

German-language Wikipedia article (no translation available, sorry) : http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiener_Schm%C3%A4h

In one discussion at dict.leo.org one help the opinion that "bullshitting" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullshit is a congenial thing, only that this is much more rough and grossly (?) than the Schmäh, which is often very fine in manners and very polite.

The "Wiener Schmäh" is also seen as a kind of mild trickery, I read, with no real damage or only a small damage (as far as I can see it) for the tricked person.

After reading through Wikipedia I find that a jester would rather use the Schmäh, I think.

The English-language Wikipedia article about the word "bullshit" links to the German-language wikipedia article about the word "Unsinn", which is not correct at all. It's outright wrong.

Only kids can make you laugh the most!

My 5yr old grandson started kindergarten this year. The teacher told my daughter he needed to work on coloring inside the lines….normal for kids his age.
So she came home, talked to him about trying to do better and slowing down so he did stay in the lines. No big deal, and he does fine for the most part when coloring here at home.

Some weeks later at the parent-teacher conference my daughter gets an update on the coloring situation. It seems my grandson found his own solution to staying inside the lines. He simply draws new lines around anything he messes up on.

I laughed out loud. Made her job of trying to explain how that was not the way to do it a lot harder. Leave it to kids to always surprise you with how they think.

Bart and Corwin should just admit that when it gets down to it, I will have the final say.

I don't usually just link to something, but I felt this was worth it. If the voice of the singer sounds very familiar, it should be; it's Eric Idle of Monty Python fame. It's not very long, so enjoy. http://dingo.care2.com/cards/flash/5409/galaxy.swf

Finally found it translated into English: "Norsk supperåd" (Norwegian Soup Council). In my opinion one of the best Norwegian sketches ever.

For some reason Danish news media found http://nyhederne.tv2.dk/article.php/id-47096649mg-synstavle-med-skjulte-budskaber.html worth publishing.

It's from the Norwegian news program "Dagsrevyen". To illustrate a piece about vision tests, they got a Snellen chart, used for visual acuity testing as a background.

EDIT: Forgot to mention - it turned out that the specific chart used in this case wasn't exactly standard.

The web page is in Danish, but the image should be clear.

says Pibbur 2012 edition, who through 4.5D glasses can read the "LMAOROTF" line.
