Probably old news for some, but why on earth they did this and what will they gain with this 'useless' feature? (Skyrim copycat?)

It's completely optional in Risen 2. You can turn it off via the options menu.

Oh good, thank you - nevertheless I don't know what they need it. They should have focused more on melee combat and made it more like Risen than the repetitive looking combat in the video.
