Wizardry 8 on Vista 32 bit - NO WORKY
March 11th, 2013, 08:06
Sometimes the autorun works on it's own, sometimes i have to explore the cd and go to it myself - either way, it opens up the initial install window, and I can select either install or exit. I select install - the mouse pointer indicates my computer is working on something, and then nothing happens. Right click the autorun and run as admin - same result. Copy disk 1's contents to a desktop folder and try it from there - same result. Run the 3d detector thing first, then the autorun - same result. Try 3 different compatability modes, xpsp2, 2000, and win98 - same result x3.
What do?

Seems that the problem is cd-check software (DRM basically) that ain't compatible with Vista.
You didn't hear it from me, but check a suggestion posted here by Bladedog:

Wizardry 8 really needs to end up on GOG along with the rest of the series.
