List of some top books readers put aside and why.

Source Goodreads

Omega who's wondering whether this entry will please pibbur as well, because some people may have been longing for such an infographic. So maybe it shouldn't be in this thread

The Omega can rest assured that pibbur is very happy with her contributions.

pibbur who has to admit that there may be people who find even the most humble and meaningless post interesting, pibbur being one of them.

Apparently I'm a journalist fraud with no integrity. You know whats most shocking I'm not a journalist. I never was.

I also hate red imps and trolls. I believe we have an infestation on the site.

"Hello World !" … Err … "Hello Moon !"

Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction. (E.F.Schumacher, Economist, Source)

I suggest we call it puibbur. Or pibbur could change his name to "S/2004 N 1", might be easier. After all, the powers that be refused to name "S/2011 (134340) 1" (around Pluto) "Vulcan", despite overwhelming support for that name in the public and in Capt. Kirk. In stead they called it "Kerberos."

pibbur could of course also change his name to Kerberos. Anything to get a celestial object named after him.

pibbur who ponders and ponders. And ponders.

Another name I've taken a liking to (as far as using it for a character, one of the plant thingies, in GW2) is mhnthtt-R.

Jaz knows of course all about where that comes from.

pibbur who also knows where d Ẁd comes from. Zeuhl!!!!

The best thing about this thread is that even after reading the various posts, you still don't know the things you don't need to know…

yep -

The full name of Los Angeles is “El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de los Angeles de Porciuncula” – you can shorten it to 3. 63% of its length “L. A.”

A golf ball has 336 indents.

16% of all American woman are born blondes, 33% are blonde now. 64% of all TV-spokeswomen are blonde, 65% of all Miss Americas are blonde.

70% of all lifeforms on earth are bacteria.

A Butterfly has 12000 eyes.

The number 142857

The number 142857 multiplied with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 results in products, that have all the same six digits in another order:

1 x 142857 = 142857
3 x 142857 = 428571
2 x 142857 = 285714
6 x 142857 = 857142
4 x 142857 = 571428
5 x 142857 = 714285

Rows & columns of the products match, too.

No, I didn't. But I'm not surprised.
Nerds know a lot of things.
But practice makes perfect.
Nerds never get that far.
