Terra Nova - Cancelled

blatantninja & Drithius ....

Hell , point is when you make a TV show even with alternative timelines and try to make the dinos look believable have at least consult a specialist on the subject so existing species do not live side by side with their long extinct ancestors !

It is like making turbine using crafts in space , or non gay sex in ME3 ...it doesnt exist , it is impossible to happen .

and while we're at it lets cut out all that sound in Star Wars! My main problem with the reality is that there wouldn't be enough oxygen to breath - the whole world should be a hot swamp - but who cares! I took more issue with the Jurassic Park movies than this fun little romp.

The #1 problem … was that no one was watching. Including me … we made it through half an episode (last half) - it was solid, but not enough to bring us back.

this is not true. it had plenty of people watching it and it made a profit.

the problem was it was too expensive. it had to distribute the pilot's cost through the series which in a strange way guaranteed it a series.

it was a good show that had an international cast and you felt was ok to watch with your kids. it had a healthy amount of action for the guys, intrigue for the adults, and human interaction for female viewers.

but, like most sci-fi, it was just way, way too expensive.

Netflix thought about picking it up but they dropped out. There's still a small chance someone else will but if its cable the budgets would be seriously slashed - look what happened to Sliders.

This is the big thing tho - UI can't seem to watch television any more - there's not enough decent shows. The airwaves are reality garbage.

The first episode caught my attention, but the rest of the series was quite the letdown. It's unfortunate. So much potential to go to waste.

Another sci fi show bites the dust. I didn't watch it but it's depressing how few sci fi series are on TV these days. Still pissed about Fox destroying Firefly!

Eh the series had its moments but I stopped watching after episode 6 "Nightfall."
There were so many "Orly?" moments in that one it got a little frustrating to watch. EMP knocks out your guns? I mean sure it's silly to use electronic guns that don't do anything special and seem to just be normal guns with extra parts that can break but alright. And sure we we can harden circuits against emp today even (by enclosure or engineering the circuits to resit it) but as long as EMP weapons aren't something people really use in the future I guess maybe your guns wouldn't be hardened. Oh, the PMC these characters work for fought in a battle in the future where an EMP weapon was used and almost caused their forces to get wiped out and they still use them? Oook.

Your spares were destroyed by the EMP too? They weren't in a sealed metal container or something? Well alright I'll buy that I guess - as long as you don't pull out a "fabricator" or some other device a little later that's magically working fine despite the spares being conveniently... son of a...

Ok, electronic security doors. That's the server core so that makes sense that it should have beefy security doors like that. Oh ok, an override makes sense... wait why is the override on the outside of the security doors? Those are pretty useless security doors.

At the end I was thinking "so in the future we'll be able to make a time portal, but too stupid to make anything else right." Also the trope used by scifi writers when they get lazy - make something low-tech "future-ish" with the only apparent change being colorful lights and being prone to break for the convenience of plot.
