Harebrained Schemes has launched thier next kickstarter called Shadowrun: Hong Kong, ans asked for $100,000 to get funded. So far the game is already half -funded.

The team that brought you the award-winning Shadowrun Returns and Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director’s Cut is back with an all new, full length standalonec yberpunk tactical cRPG set in Shadowrun's magically Awakened Hong Kong of 2056.

HONG KONG. A stable and prosperous port of call in a sea of chaos, warfare, and political turmoil. The Hong Kong Free Enterprise Zone is a land of contradictions - it is one of the most successful centers of business in the Sixth World, and home to one of the world’s most dangerous sprawl sites. A land of bright lights, gleaming towers, and restless spirits where life is cheap and everything is for sale.

The lure of a quick payday draws you from Seattle into the neon glow of Victoria Harbor… and into a corporate conspiracy nearly thirty years in the making. A terrifying threat looms on the horizon - a supernatural force that corrupts and consumes everything it touches. Dragged into the shadows of Kowloon City, you will need to forge new connections and gain "face" to survive.

Hong Kong contains fantastic elements for a new Shadowrun setting: an underworld of triads, tongs, and gangs to navigate, wild magic to harness, and bleeding edge cybertech to equip. Plus, Hong Kong’s culture is steeped in "guanxi" - a network of influence and relationships based upon a combination of social status, and prestige. All of these elements add up to a great new setting for running the shadows.

Shadowrun: Hong Kong has everything you expect from a Harebrained Schemes Shadowrun game: strong storytelling and sharp writing, lots of morally gray choices, a crew of memorable characters with distinct personalities, challenging tactical turn-based combat, a robust character creation system, and a one of a kind cyberpunk-meets-magic game setting that’s endured for over 25 years.

Our Backers voted for Hong Kong as the next city for us to bring to life and we’re excited to be working on it!
Update: The game is now funded on the first day.

More information.

By this rate the $100,000 goal will be reached in a few minutes.

It succeeded in less than four hours. I think they're going to need more funding goals...

No tablets, PC only! Yay! :)
Backed of course!

Little disappointed though by having only 3-4 companions. :(

Dragonfall had 4 as well (+ dog). I can see even more companions being part of stretch goal. No Mage is in current list of companions.

The 4th companion already is a stretch goal. So we need at least $350k for a 5th.

That was fast. How fast they reached goal? 2 hours?
In the comments someone said it was 105 minutes. :D

Jaesun suggested today a friendly competitive fundraiser between the Codex and the Watch to me for this game.
I think it is safe to say that such a fundraiser is not needed. They will get all stretch goals and more.

Did my part, I'm no longer a Kickstarter virgin... wonder if they'll call me?

Seriously though, good to see the project funded so quickly. It was only a few days ago that a few members were predicting failure. Hopefully, they're as glad to see themselves proven wrong as we are.

I especially loved the part about already being several months into development. looks like they're doing this the right way. Specifically, adding in great new elements while not fixing what isn't broken.

Starting to look like 2015 is going to be another good year for CRPG enthusiast. All that's left is to drop a little donation on the Watch, which begs the question.. I'm not a fan of PayPal, do I have to create an account with them in order to donate to the site? Just wondering.

Joxer officially has no valid reason for not backing this KS campaign :p

Also, based on my experience with HBS previous Shadowrun games I can basically guarantee that there will be no endless respawns, no grinding (it's Shadowrun so you don't get experience for killing enemies anyway.. you get Karma for completing missions), very little filler content (not a bunch of tedious / simple fetch quests or long boring tutorial levels which can't be skipped).

This being Hong Kong, I guess I am a little surprised that there isn't a martial arts-focused character. The closest seems to be Duncan Wu, but he seems to be mainly focused on weapon attacks.

Well, you can of course make your player character an adept who fights with his / her fists.

I hate to sound negative, but those stretch goals are extremely lame.

An extra $50k for animatic scene transitions? An extra $100k just to add another companion into the game?

Joxer will find something else to complain about.

I love the response to question about why they will not make a tablet version.
Focus = Quality. We have elected to focus all our efforts on PC in order to deliver the best game we can without the current processing and memory limitations of tablets. This focus allows us to have higher-fidelity visuals, larger map sizes, and more stuff on screen.
