Sadly I have yet to finish any of the Dark Soul games. Seems every time I try to re-play them some other game is released, and grabs my attention more.

Eh, did anyone here posted impressions of Dark Souls II?
It has something of a bad rep, but it can't be that bad. What exactly makes it inferior to first one?

I wouldn't listen to all the negativity. I found it to be far superior to the first game:

+Better UI
+Better co-op
+More consistent level design (IMO, the latter half of DS 1 was pretty poor, DLC aside)
+Lots of quality of life improvements (more bonfires, better bonfire placement, warp between all bonfires from the beginning, alternate means of healing, more weapon/item/ring slots, etc.)
-No way to avoid invasions
-Still no zooming out the camera
-PvP is still a laggy, broken mess

It's not as good as the first for me by some margin (particularly in terms of world cohesion and connectivity) but it's still a solid and enjoyable game. Detailed impressions (you'll need some extra time!) here: http://www.rpgwatch.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26999
