WORK IN PROGRESS

I'm currently replaying the game so this thread will contain info on best weapons per chapter, legendaries, recipes, schematics, permabonus herbs and other stuff that could be nifty.
It won't be fast to write it all and I'll probably miss one or two things worth noting, so if I do, feel free to add/correct it.
Since the replay is about me joining demon hunters (first runthrough was mage), I've cleared demon hunters' island completely. Except the chapter 3 part, but that'll be added eventually.
I'll do this for each island then I'll reedit and sort the whole thing per items, not per location.

When something is in a chest, the chest difficulty is mentioned in brackets.

So let's see for starters what can be found on Calador.

Just so you can understand hints better.
Those three houses at the bottom of the map is fishermen village.
West are some ruins, a labyrinth of a sort, do notice there is a lone tower north from it and a huge clearing below. A bit south from the sole tower is a teleport and hunters' lodge.
On east part of the map you can see two teleports. The one on the left is by the tavern, the one on the right is by a huge castletype building called citadel.
A bit west from the tavern lives the butcher.
A bit north from citadel you may spot a graveyard on the pic with a windmill nearby, more north is some house without a roof and an entrance to a mine and more north from there is just a common house while even more north you can see some 5 dots around one which is in fact a stone circle where you just have to bring Bones to hear his comment.

- Pirate Flag - in one of fishermen village huts
- Old Bow - Wilson's room inside citadel
- Sun Crystal - Connor's shop in citadel
- (Black) Cat's Paw - sadly it's not futuristic magazine, the hint you'll find in the tavern
- Tirimira's Monocle - in house near windmill
- Hardened Crab Shell - in mine near house without roof
- Vague Promises - in butcher's house west of the tavern



Legendaries to collect

- Broken Lockpick - inside house that's a bit north from the house without roof
- Booze for Aiming - in citadel, just proceed right after you enter
- Blunt Ritual Knife - in citadel you must beat Henrik in armwrestling (evening)
- Tuning Fork - behind the most northern tombstone in the graveyard
- Diamond Grinder - solve Wison's engagement ring quest (Citadel) by sailing to Antigua and back
- Intractable Liana - on the beach south from labyrinth, the spot where a mage plans bad things for Jill
- Ornamental Belt - John's treasure chest, you must learn it's location on Taranis!



Booze recipes

- Magic Liquor - Chest (0) in butcher's house west from the tavern
- Gold Liquor - solve Ernesto's quest (windmill), you get the recipe no matter your choice
- Shadow Liquor - loot dead demon hunter behind shadow lord in labyrinth



Potion recipes

- Potion of Defense - chest (70) in the mine near the house without roof
- Potion of Blades - chest (90) in a building you reach by lower path below the most northern solo tower
- Potion of Will - K.O. (as non DH) or kill (as DH during Evil books quest) Mick in the tavern then loot him
- Potion of Awe - after intimidating Moe (90) in the tavern to give you money, K.O. him (draw weapon and attack him, don't talk to him)
- Permapotion of the Eternal Hunter (ranged+5) - solve rotary puzzle* in western part of labyrinth to enter the adjacent room

- Fire Opal - dig the treasure on Calador beach using the map from fishermen village



The rest maybe worth knowing, too early to say

- Expedition musket, 60, muskets+5 - chest (80) in Wilson's room in citadel
- The Forgotten One pistol, 55, pistol+5 - parrot on top floor and open a chest (80) in sea tower on west coast
- Blade of Calador Coronation Sword - for smithing, behind shadow lord in labyrinth
- Skull crossbow, 70 - chest (120) by dead necromancer in the area past shadow lord in labyrinth, floor below the spot with Grimoire questitem
- Essence of Persuasion (permanent +5 influence) - potion, not recipe, near fire golem all way behind citadel, closer to the citadel than to lava

CRAB COAST

The area is not big and when arriving you can go on south coast (where you started the tutorial/chapter 1) or north coast (where you were revived).
South coast has significant point is only the temple. The temple leads to the skullcave where shadow lord stole your soul.
North coast has a part that on the map looks like a hook and also a separate island is east of it.



Hint on legendaries

- The Plan - book on north part inside a canyon west from the spot you arrive with a smallboat



Legendary

- Hardened Crab Shell - chest (0) on the plateau in center of the remote island, west of north coast

ANTIGUA chapter 2

Not many important spots.
The town is in south part of the map. Alvarez is in the biggest northern building, that is his base. A bit south from it is gunsmith house, more south are warehouse, tavern and a sort of a voodoo shop being run by Emma.
The northern teleporter is an area called backcountry and north from it is a skullcave.



Hints on legendaries

- Ancient Pestle - warehouse 1st floor (NOT GROUNDFLOOR!)
- Glass Eye - tavern upstairs
- Small Gripping Pliers - in a house just before the town exit
- Gilded Orb - Alvarez' base
- Ritual Knife - a path towards south from backcountry teleporter
- Tuning Fork - in Emma's store (voodoo store)



Legendaries to collect

- Glass Sword - in the sea, opposite the tavern
- Finger Bone - Alvarez' base building
- Damaged Cuirass - you can't dig this out until you read the hint about it on Tacarigua

KILA chapter 2

When you arrive on Kila for the first time, you'll land near pirates' settlement. It's where the silver arrow is on the map, in southeast part of the island.
From there you can reach east coast through a cave or over the hill.
All way north is a remote island without a teleporter.
Going west through the jungle will lead you to natives' village teleporter. North from it is a big wall impossible to pass in chapter 2.
Between pirates' settlement and natives' village is a sort of a small lake or pond that is used as a watersource.



Hints on legendaries

- Intractable Liana - inside stranded ship, pirates' settlemet
- Glass Sword - inside stranded ship, pirates' settlemet
- Diamond Grinder - on the table by huts in pirates' settlement
- Broken Lockpick - near angry warthog that's hiding upwards past the watersource



Legendaries to collect

- Tirimia's Monocle - win knives minigame against Buddy (daytime) in pirate's settlement
- Old Bow - inside the cave near pirate's settlement that leads to east coast
- Ancient Pestle - southern edge of the east coast, a silverback is "guarding" it

- Water Stone - K.O. Red in pirates' settlement
- Oath Ring - K.O. Colby in pirates' settlement
- Shadow's Fire - K.O. Hawkins in pirates' settlement



The rest maybe worth knowing, too early to say

- You can pickpocket from Quinn in pirates' settlement a nice starting sword: Corsair's Blade, 30-60
- A chest (80) in the secret passage (through the vegetation) near the big wall northeast end contains Bone Musket, 65. This musket can be upgraded to Spirit Musket, 70, muskets +5, and is possibly the best musket available in chapter 2
- Rotary puzzle by Cunningham's unique plant quest is easier than Calador puzzle, just select middle ring and turn it 10 times clockwise
- Fragment of Mara - east beach on the remote island
- While posing as a native warrior, you may order Slim to give you his clothes. Do it as his waistcoat provides +5 intimidate and boots are +5 bladeproof. Also don't forget to put those items and that warrior's weapon in any nearby chest so you can take them later!

TARANIS chapter 2

The spot you'll arrive is the harbor on the east side of the island where Rumold is running a warehouse with two gnomes acting as helping hands, Safi and Gadi who'll go for a mining later in southern mine which is just a bit southwest from the harbor.
On the harbor exit you'll find Baker who'll lead you to mages' base.
You won't be able to enter main building in mages' base immediately, only after you solve a few quests for Magnus who is standing in (not immediate) front of it. Inside main building are four mages of which only one gets outside during day, in it's basement is Nergal the alchemist who sells different common herbs and recipes.
Just a bit south from port you may see a monolith on the map, there are two more, one northwest and one all way south.
Towards northwest from the harbor is mages' base, more northwest is north mine.
South from that mine is an abandoned house with another mine below it, I'll call it Cox mine as once you explore it, Cox will go start the business there.
More south is the woods area.
All way south from woods is a swamp with shadow infested area just west from it.
Finally there are two remote islands on southeast and north.
If I don't state specifically a location, NPC I mention is in mages' base.

- Blood-soaked Cloth - musty cave on southeastern remote island
- Well-oiled Crankshaft - smithy house in mages' base
- Ornamental belt - cave in woods where you find Bone Grinder sword (mustread to dig the item)
- Tattered Scabbald - mages' base main building 1st floor (mustread to dig the item)
- Vial - mages' base main building 1st floor (mustread to dig the item)

- Thrusting sword, 35-50, nice for early start you can get by pickpocketing Hardwick
- Mara's Blade mediocre sword to craft, both parts are on Taranis, blade is in the swamp (south) near Shax, while hilt is at the top edge of northwest beach

TACARIGUA chapter 2

The inquisition base with Sebastiano in charge is on the west, the most northern building in the base is a (former) prison.
North from it is badlands area with a ruined plantation, a bit west is the watchtower.
By that watchtower is a teleporter which by itself is not interesting, check the map and spot directly south from it some path that leads to the top of the mountain.
Apart from that top of the mountain pass, in the middle part of the island is the lighthouse and all way north is the skullcave.
Second badlands on this island is in the swamp all way east. The silver arrow marks one interesting spot that's near a campfire, more about it below.



Hints on legendaries

- Blue Quill - on the beach below the pass to the top of the mountain
- Herb Liquer - in the cave you reach by crossing the bridge a bit south from skullcave
- Target - in Sebastiano's room (main building in inquisition base)
- Damaged Cuirass - in a crate by a couple of graves in eastern badlands (swamp) just where you swim out



Legendaries to collect

- Target - on the roof of the main building in inquisition base (use liana in the back to climb up or pull it down with telekinesis)
- Plan of Holm the Great - inside Sebastiano's chest in the main building in inquisition base
- Vial - dig Nameless' Captain's treasure, you can learn the location only by reading about it on Taranis



Booze recipes

- Fighter's Liquor - pickpocket Rodriguez in inquisition base
- Painkiller - chest (20) by the campfire in the most western end of the island (where you meet Horas)



Potion recipes

- Potion of Will - chest (20) near the couple of graves in eastern badlands, near where you swim out
- Marksman's potion - chest (60) in the groundfloor room to the right inside main building in inquisition base
- Thief's potion - if you kill Vasco you can loot it from him (no, you can't K.O. him!), if you don't want to kill him, you can still find this recipe on Taranis



Schematics

- Gargoyle Amulet - chest (90) north from lighthouse bridge near swamp golem
- Ring from Another World - chest (20) in the skullcave guarded by swamp golem
- Heart of the Great Hunter - just across the bridge south from skullcave
- Sapphire Earring - treasure map from the watchtower leads to a spot near plantation

- Ursegor Flaming Eye is in the chest (0) a bit south from the pass to the mountain top, on the map it's a small rectangle west from the lighthouse
- Sphere Thorn hilt is inside the (former) inquisition base prison, use monkey to reach it

* As time passes after you get the big ship Bones suggests to speak with your crew, every one in a while. Skip talking to Mendoza if you're going good route till you collect 3 items needed for his dreamquests (Fragment of Mara, Ursegor Flaming Eye and Garcia's forgot what), skip talking to Jaffar if you're going evil route, but make sure you talk to Polly the parrot. After quite a few chats, a quest Who's Polly's Daddy will trigger which will lead you into a certain cave. There you'll find a chest (10) with the best ingame armor (+25 on everything).
No, it's not chapter 3/4 item! At least not if you have DLC, I'm unsure if Bones suggests the talk as the time passes or it's based on different island visits.

In the center is gnomes' village.
What looks as some doublecave entrance in southeast part of the island actually leads to the goblin king and is guarded by a leviathan called gnome eater.
Although the area contains some hilarious quests, just herbs are interesting for this thread.

FOG ISLAND chapter 2

Nothing much to say about this island except that it has superb substories.
On the island there are 5 soul eaters near each trader/trainer on the map. In the central part of the island you can spot on the map a stone circle with a ghost named Balthazar.
As gnome island, no recipes, schematics, etc, just herbs and a legendary item here. And a pot worth solving a quest.

- Freddie's Shackles - in inquisition camp, Venturo will lead you to the camp

Ch 2 done.

Onward to chapter 3. IIRC there are a few herbs to collect in those parts…

But it'll be pretty boring. I actually managed to get all attributes to 105 except ranged - but it's 100 and if I knew where all these herbs are before, I could have get everything on 105. :(
Yes you read it right. It is possible to have all attributes maxed before starting chapter 3!!! I don't have them now on 105, but I still have 2 unused permabonus herbs in inventory which means if I managed glory better I'd have all attribs maxed.

Oh and I actually don't need another potion nor glory any more. One of legendaries accessible only in chapter 3 grants ranged +5. LOL

This game really needs another difficulty level <Gothic Veteran> or something.
At least for the second play-through.
