Icewind Dale NPCs Released

Icewind Dale 1 remained the last of the five original Infinity Engine games not to feature a lively, interactive party of NPCs. The release of Icewind Dale NPCs changes all that.

Team your hero of the frozen north with an eclectic band, thrown together by circumstance to face down the forces menacing the Dale.

IWD NPCs features five fully-realized joinable characters with all the depth you would expect from PPG companions, complete with original portraits, voice acting, inter-party and PC-focused dialogue, and romantic possibilities. Most characters can be customized with multiple class combinations.

Eh? I don't recall there being any in IWD 2 either....

Sounds like a pretty cool mod though, thanks for the heads up.

I'm sure there are NPC-packs like this for IWD2 though.

I'll keep in mind if I replay IWD, in any case.

Very interesting! While I certainly enjoy the create-my-own-party approach, it would be nice to once play through it with BG2ish NPCs. NPC mods are always welcome - makes an old game like IWD more interesting.

I figured it was just that people ignore IWD2! I love the infinity games, loved IWD, but just got bored with the story in IWD2.

This sounds like a cool project, when I'm done with BG2, I may have to try it!

Funny thing about IWD, after playing BG the first time, I really craved a system where I could create my whole party (didn't know about the backdoor multiplayer way in BG), so i was pumped about IWD. Loved it, but found I preferred joinables!

One thing I would love to see for both BG and IWD are improved endings. I hate when the game just ends with a short animation.

The mod requires HoW to install... unfortunately, I don't have HoW so I can't play this awesome mod
