Deep Silver sent a press relese today with information that Sacred 3 will be releasing in Summer 2014, and included a new trailer to go along with the news.

Sacred 3 Delivers Action-filled Fantasy In Summer 2014

Reveal Trailer Sets The Tone For Arcade Hack ‘n’ Slash Gameplay

Deep Silver today announced that the next installment of the famed Sacred franchise, Sacred 3, will release on consoles and PC this summer. Sacred 3 takes players back into the fantasy realms of Ancaria, where they will need to band together in the hope of vanquishing the deadly tides of evil. Sacred 3 will be released for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and for the Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft as well as Windows PC.

“The paramount development goal for Sacred 3 has been to create a seamless online and offline co-op experience”, said Remy van Leeuwen, Brand Manager of Deep Silver. “By creating a game built around the central concept of co-op gameplay, we’re expanding the series to new audiences without compromising the rich lore and fantasy of the Sacred universe.”

Sacred 3 features classic arcade Hack ‘n’ Slash action centered around drop in, drop out cooperative multiplayer for both offline (2 players) and online (4 players) play. The game brings back fan-favourite characters such as the Seraphim, Ancarian, Khukuhru and the Safiri, as well as introduces a new character, Malakhim. Each character class features its own unique skills and weapons which can be upgraded to match the player’s very own combat style. As they master the art of war, players will fight their way through enemy hordes and try to outshine their fellow companions on their way to become the greatest hero of all. The inclusion of mission stats and online leaderboards will continue to drive competition both locally and online. Victory Is Ours. Glory is Mine.

Well I have to say I'm not excited on the new direction of the series, and don't trust the new developer to deliver. I have a bad feeling as they say.:anxious:

Hopefully time proves me wrong.

Frankly, I've always found the Sacred games to be clunky and kinda wasted opportunities that didn't quite work.

So, for me, the worst that can happen is that it's more of the same.

Part two was terrible. Even with a new developer, my fingers are not crossed.

Is this why D:OS put in coop play? To compete with S3? Eee gawds….

D:OS has co-op because Lars wanted to be able to play with his girlfriend (which is probably why the two main characters can romance each others too).

All for one, but not one for all :)

I thought sacred 1 was enjoyable game.. not a groundbreaking, genre changing, but it was entertaining in it's own way. a bit too many respawning monsters though. I haven't played sacred 2, so i can't comment it.

I personally liked both of them, though part 1 seemed to have less issues later on. Part 2 with the expansion and fully up to date was a fun experience. A huge world with tons of customization.

Never bought previous two games and dunno why. For whatever reason, noone who played them didn't bother with recommending.

You wont like them Joxer as both have a high rate of re-spawns. I know you hate RPGs were this happens from your various thread replies.^^

Okay, so not buying first two. What about this one? Will it be buttonsmasher or involves at least some brain activity?

From the sound of the press release it will be a button smasher, and I also read an older preview that it was made for consoles in mind not the PC.:wry:

It has a few obvious influences, but more than anything else, Sacred 3 is like Warhammer: 40,000. On one side of things, you have deadly serious heroes with a strong sense of culture who are devoted to doing what's right. The Safiri, for instance, harness the sun to power their warrior merchants. Meanwhile, the oppressed Ancarians are a group of guerilla troops who use nasty tactics to keep themselves safe. Sacred 3's enemies, however, are ridiculous, goofy green-skins with a hunger for violence and armor made from slapped-together garbage.

It's a fun mix that works well with the familiar but improved-upon action-RPG gameplay, and it proves new series developer Keen Games — new to the Sacred series — has a great understanding of what makes Sacred tick.

The one major difference in that respect is that PlayStation 3 is its lead platform — this is an RPG engineered to appeal to a console audience. This influence means Sacred 3's click-click-click combat — regardless of platform — is more action-oriented than automatic. It looks the part, too. The presentation gives players the traditional isometric camera, but the moment-to-moment flow of a fight has plenty of satisfying violence. Enemies obey the laws of physics in believable ways. They go flying when bashed, recoil in pain when hurt, and interact with each other when, say, you throw one into another.

I love the Sacred series. But won't be buying this one. as far as why I didn't recommend them to you? As Couch pointed out, they have a very high respawn rate, and I don't own a bulletproof vest. :sweatdrop:

I liked the Sacred series but when will developers get the fact that gamers want to see gameplay and not stupid trailers.
