Devin Townsend - The Death Of Music from album Biomech
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjZkKk1qquk

The second part of the song is one of the most climatic musical sequences I know.
The emotion there is completely overwhelming.
Link's sound quality doesn't do the song proper justice, but at least it's there:).

I'm adding lyrics as well, because I love them!

The Death Of Music (Lyrics)

Question...
Leapt like dog from man...
Terminate high thinking...
Known in your prophecy...
Sun... Son...
Sun it shifts, and brittleness subsides
To sleep... sleep away

One comes, the rain will always be
And things I am
Are things that should not be
They laughed at me but we never bothered
My friends and I
There were no others

Now it comes...
Bolt across the blue...
Shadows dance over the land...
Walls high, water deep
Brick and steel gathering speed
Guess it's just a feeling
...Guess it's just a feeling...

Rain may come
The rain may never be
In things you are
Are things I need to be
My friends were there but they never bothered
Now there's you and I and
There are no others

It's like when death becomes musical
...It's musical
It's like a death becomes musical
Musical

And it comes...
To make sure that he will never rise
And the groans from the bellies
Have never cried this hard
And the eyes of the wicked ones
Have never been full of dust
In the middle of the sea it waits...
...Closer...
Home, nor anywhere on Earth on that final day will anyone be apart
...one...schooled...together...
Towards the sea...
And we may drown, fly, fall from faith
...but the pain won't be realized
Because the emotions will hit as god should
And the mountains will offer no shelter
And the clouds will be no cover...
No matter where we run...

Don't die on me
Don't go away
When I need you here
In my need

The rain will come
The rain will always be
In things I am
Are things that have to be
My friends have come and I never bothered
Myself and I
There is no other

It's like a death becomes musical
It's musical

Throwback for today. A deceptively beautiful song, IMO.

I just watched the Eurovision Song Contest entries 2008 :wow: .
Well.... most of the stuff was either terminally boring or shockingy unimginative. But there is oneesxception... at least for me: the entry from first-timers Azerbaijan
:devil::wings:
I'm fascinated. It's, like, the only song I could actually remember after listening to all 25...

Occasionally, MySpace "networking" pans out. Bumped into this guy via Orange Yellow Red (still one of my top recommendations, BTW). I don't generally get overly excited about instrumentals, but this stuff is pretty darn good.

The music was good but the visuals were just gay. - No offense... I guess I'm the type of person who prefers my angels to be female.

@ dte: Fragile is great. I keep thinking I'm listening to The Cure turned shoegaze.

soon i will finally be listening to an april march - impatiens (album)
after many failed attempts at getting this cd i finally put a $50 bid on it straightaway. no one else even bid on it til the last minute or so and then one low bid 15.00 and some sucker bumped it all the way up to 44.00 with a bid at only 3 seconds left. oh well my posterior may be sore but at least my heart and soul will soar soon!

and to keep from being to off topic heres a tune

Naughty DeepO. Bad, bad, naughty DeepO.

Another throwback for me today. The main part of the song is fairly good, but I just roll in the ending like a pig in mud.

Then again I sure don't know much about art, but I know what I like ... and this ain't it :p

Well, rather than art, 4'33'' is a philosophical idea/question.

That said, 90% of contemporary radios should play this piece non-stop, even though it would probably be shortened, 3'18'' long, radio-friendly version:)

Shit, double post, I'm soooorry:blush:.

Two songs from my favourite game for Amiga, Turrican 2.

Title song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fvha_2hAzq0

Last level and outro music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfcSRS0iUvI

Soundtrack for this game is pure genius and still one of the best for computer game, ever, imho. Chris Huelsbeck must have had a great time composing it. Aaah, memories...:).

Edit: Ah, what the hell, here are two more:

Music from levels 2-4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aooHpUe5e3A

Music from levels 4-7: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJGoLgJKLrQ

Hopefully, I'm not too off-topic posting this ... but that's what I'm currently listening:biggrin:.

I liked the factory level music of Super Turrican best, but I love pretty much everything composed by Chris Hülsbeck :).

Double posts are OK in this thread as long as they're not on the same day. At least, that's the "rule" I made for myself.

Marine Time Keepers for me today. I received a CDr of their unreleased stuff, including a track not available anywhere. Happy dance!

I love pretty much everything composed by Chris Hülsbeck :).

Despite he's composing in the genre which I'm usually not that entusiastic about, from what I've heard, I enjoyed most of Chris Huelsbeck's songs as well.
He has great ear for good melodies, cares about the atmosphere and always pays attention to songs' structures and their development. His compositions never stay at one place which is quite unusual for the genre.

Oh, and btw, dteowner, according to my counter, it seems that you've broken your double post rule here just few days ago. Sorry, couldn't resist:x.

in dteowners defense, not like he needs it from me;)
times are posted locally to the user so what may be the same day to you is probably not to him or i as i doubt he was referring to a 24 hour block of time since most people don't think of days in that regard but as the thing that comes before and after sleep.
all add some music later when i find it.

heres a good one from hooverphonics latest release which i finally got ahold of a few weeks back. their albums are so hard to get a hold of here in america and most people have been wanting ~35 to import it. was stoked when i checked back in with emusic to see they had it available now. so for $10 i got that and another 1 3/4 albums in addition to choose from. emusic is a great site and although their mp3s aren't the highest quality joining for a month or two is well worth the money as some of the stuff on their is hard to come by in stores.

hooverphonic-gentle storm

there seems to be only 3 tracks from the new album "the president of the lsd golf club"(6th studio album)
strangely this track is rather 'air'(the french band) like more so than most of their other stuff. hooverphonic though is my favourite european band though exluding the hoard of uk bands.
for a funkier track
hooverphonic-expedition impossible

and one from their 3rd album magnificent tree
it has one of the most addicting guitar riffs ever!
hooverphonic-jackie cane (also the album name of their 4th album)
