Not to defend Konjad too much here, liking DA2 is a capital offense after all, but...

That's what makes it boring, though. Who comes to the internet to find normal people? I'm surrounded by normal people in real life. I have to attempt to be somewhat normal and moderate in real life, I have to take the bad with the good; if someone says they loved Might and Magic but they think Oblivion was just as good in different ways, I just have to nod, smile and say "yeah, Might and Magic is awesome" and we can talk about that. On the internet, I want to meet batshit unhinged people who scream at each other (within reason) about every little difference of opinion, but only as a consequence of their vastly in-depth knowledge and love what they're talking about.

Because there is beauty in the Codex, more so than any forum of people that have any connection with reality can come up with. Because the core of the Codex is not bitter, pointless hatred, whatever people like Skyway would have you believe (people so hardcore that they have progressed from endlessly bashing what the Codex hates for being too mainstream to endlessly bashing the Codex for being too mainstream. Their Soviet overlords refuse to let them log out and leave). The core of the Codex is bitter indeed, but it is a bitterness born from the purest love. What other forum has a 20-page thread about the local Neo-Nazi propositioning the local transsexual porn star to move into his apartment and poo on his chest (this is not exaggeration, this happened)? What other forum is full of people who will wax lyrical about obscure 1986 tactical RPGs? What other forum is guaranteed to be near the top of your Google results if you're looking for help, info or simply fellow lovers of Knights of the Chalice or Wizardry 7? What other forum has a vast, bursting archive of creative and strange Let's Plays of games from Eternal Dagger to the entire Ultima series to Pathologic to Sengoku Rance?

The internet is for mad people. Mad, brilliant, alienated people existing on the margins of society because they're just too crazed to fit in anywhere else. Not moderate, sane behaviour. Embrace it.

No. Part of it, by all means. Maybe the Codex(?). But not everywhere. So Codex for those who like it there. And the Watch for those how like it here. Embrace it?

I know it's hard to take anything from someone who used to call himself POOPOO MCBUMFACE seriously, but what my bro is saying here is good stuff.

There is a kind of purity in our hatred for one another. You require more mental stamina at the Codex, and likely as well more than a small dose of insanity, but no other website has captivated me in my years on the internet as that place has.

Yes, I have gazed long into the abyss, and it has gazed back — oh, how it has gazed back — but I have not flinched, and I continue to embrace my sick addiction to it, as long as it will have me. I should write a book. The Codex and I: Crispy's Descent Into Madness.

But I've also realized that having a site like the Watch to exist as a mirror to ourselves serves its own purpose. You guys cause us to, well, reflect, and it's… interesting.

I guess I'm trying to say thank you. We'll keep popping in once in a while to remind you how much we appreciate it, 'k?

It's not about just 'whichever you prefer'. It is about ideologies, about honour and hate. Why did Winston Churchill not agreed to Hitler's peace treaty? Hitler raped the Europe, but didn't attack England and he even let English get away from Europe, not attacking them. If Churchill agreed England would be left in peace and wouldn't have to care about the war anymore. He could just let Russkies and Deuches fight each other and steal potatoes. But he didn't. He wanted Hitler to fail so much that he allied with soviets. It was about pure hatred and possible consequences of his actions in long-term. If England would have agreed to peace treaty it would just quit the war. But what would be in next 50 or 100 years? Then it would be no more able to defend itself from possible threat from all the European nazi nations.

If I were 15 years younger, I'd possibly be a member of the Codex. However, I burned through my neurotic/overamped L33T phase long ago. It's nice to be able to discuss something intelligently... on the internet of all unlikeliest of places.

It is clear, however, that this is indeed a forum built on blind hatred. So it goes. Continue pontificating about those RPGCodex peasant children who're incapable of intelligent discussion or reaching a middle ground, dismiss everyone else off-hand and see everything in black and white.
