I heard a trio of songs I'd never heard before while listening to the radio today:
Joan Armatrading is still very much alive and well it seems. This live performance of Down To Zero at the Radio 2 Folk Awards is just mesmerising.
Blast from the past and David Bowie clone John Waite singing Isn't It Time with the band The Babys, a band I've never heard of, even though I'm a huge fan of Boobs and Brass backing, something this song is virtually a scholarly lesson in (though a shame the brass can't be seen in the vid).
Finally is Wake Me Up by Avicii. Looking at the youtube vid, omg it has 1 billion views. And I'd never heard of any of it before! Now I know I'm old
The link between all three? Utterly amazing singing voices.
