Game Banshee site getting "This site may harm your computer" warning from Google

Anyone else seeing this? I googled Game Banshee and am getting the suspicious activity warning page from Google about possible malware on the site.

Anyone know about this?

Those are often triggered when someone slips in a virus-laden web ad.

Yeah we had them too a while ago. It sucks when that happens.

Does the site not have control over this kind of thing? I don't understand. Can't they do something about it?

Also, does anyone know exactly how much risk you take by visiting sites like that anyway? Just curious.

Most of the time these things are caused by code injection. Read all about it here.
As the article show it can be prevented. However when you are running an ad and this ad is based on javascript supplied by the ad provider, it can happen that this piece of code is not save. The only remedy is to bring the ad down, but if you have a contract with the ad provider that might not be that trivial.
Then again it might also be a security leak in the software used on the website.

By visiting an infected site, it asks you to download something. Most of the time it claims it is essential for viewing the site. If you don't download it you should be safe.
