Political and politically incorrect humor

The North Korea joke was hilarious. I didn't understand the Secret Service one, though.

pibbur who never wears pink clothes
The Secret Service detachment in charge of keeping Obama in one piece had a bit of a party down in Columbia (a couple days before Obama arrived) involving quite the gaggle of ladies of negotiable virtue. Personally, I don't see the problem since (unlike the GSA's Las Vegas romp) the soire wasn't funded with taxpayer money, but that's just me. Those guys are expected to take a bullet--if they want to indulge in the local culture, more power to them I say.

The pink outfit is jen-u-won pimp gear, yo.

From Varvel, this is one of the "fill in the blank" contests he runs. Personally, I think 2nd place should have won:

Runners up: Tom Paine, Philadelphia, PA – “Bush’s fault…click…Bush’s fault…click…Bush’s fault…”

Not a funny one, but I thought it was quite good:

And, best for last, funny on several different levels:

The author of the children's classic, "Where the Wild Things Are", Maurice Sendak, died this past week.

I would assume so, but I guess I can't say for certain. The awards listed on his wiki appear primarily American, but he won the Hans Christian Anderson, which is supposed to be the "Nobel" for youth books.

I've been reading "Where the wild things are" in my youth. Don't remember where the book is nowadays, but I believe that my younger sister had read it at one point, too.

And yes, it's in a way a true classic ... Although I found it quite very in my youth ... I have learned to appreciate it only much later ... This book, although good, it imho nothing for very sensitive children ... The more sensitive, the older their age should be, imho, when they get to read it ...
