RPGWatch Feature: Jagged Alliance: Back in Action - Review

Something always felt a little off about BiA to me. The portraits all look the same, of course, which sucks. Merc personalities are not very vibrant, which is a big deal. Character advancement is done with a shitty levelling/point buy system instead of the "learn by doing" which I thought was a series staple. The enemy AI is lousy, so they compensate by making everyone a crack shot. Then I read reviews of the late game in which mercenary snipers were being taken down at long distance by army guys with pistols. Needless to say, I did not get very far in the game the week after release, but after reading this review, maybe I will try again with the patched version.
