TES Skyrim 0.091 Patch 4 - patch for fixing graphical artifacts, lags, freezing, some sound problems. Also may be used to speedup some other modern games, users with single core cpu have better performance in Mass Effect 1 (actually they are using Silent Hill 5 patch, but this one include the code from it).

This unofficial patch by Boris Vorontstov has worked wonders for me on my Windows XP 32 bit system.

It completely removed all of the 2-7 freezing I was experiencing as well as the graphic glitches. Also eliminated the 4-5 minute game startup time for me so now the game starts/loads very quickly. The difference for me is incredible.

The patch consists of a d3d9.dll which you put in the game directory which overrides the default one.

I don't have those issues, but I am glad you discovered a fix.

Had the same problem. Its known bug discussed on Skyrim forums. It happens only on WinXP dual core systems.

The patch completely fixed it + it greatly improves graphical quality in game.

Highly recommended!

Not just dual core systems.
I have an AMD FX55 and was having problems and this patch fixed the issues I had.
So it works for single core as well :)

So what is this "patch" actually doing?

It's over-riding the system's default DirectX 'd3d9.dll' with a modified one which you simply place in the game's directory. This modified dll will only be active for Skyrim and won't affect your system or any other game as they will use your system default dll.

If you wish to uninstall the patched 'd3d9.dll' for Skyrim you simply remove the 'd3d9.dll' file from the game directory.
