Baldurs Gate for iPad ANnounced

I picked up an Aspire One 722 at Staples for $300. 11 inch screen, 1366x768, 4G ram, dual core and a Radeon 9260. I have all the widescreen modded Infinity games and Spiderweb stuff on it, Torchlight, Avencast etc. Avencast is about as much as it can handle. I pad 50 a month for a 4G hotspot and also use the 722 to remote in to work.

By the time you accessorize the iPad to be as useful as the 722 it is both heavier and slower.

my iPad collects dust.

I had no idea I needed to.

If someone said 'the Gothic games suck', what would be your first question? 'Have you played them'? If not, then you would be correct in saying that they lack the context to make anything other than a random comment with little meaning - because they inherently lack the experience to make an objective statement.

First of all, your analogy makes little sense. I didn't say that anything "sucked", I said I have yet to see an iPad exclusive that impressed me in the least.

I don't need to own an iPad to see what kind of games are available. I don't own an Xbox either, but I have a pretty good grasp of what's available for it.

That's the last time I have a crisis in real life. You guys go crazy when the rats away. :p

After reading this article I am so glad I am an Applle user and really on Macs and iPads now:
http://www.nytimes.com/2003/08/11/b...virus-put-pornography-on-computer.html?src=pm

I remember how it was in the late 90s going to all chat rooms with a Windows PC and having these people hack your computer or put malware on it. It was wild wild west.

The problem is that the continued lack of real issues makes Mac users complacent - don't think for a second it cannot happen! Regardless if you use WIndows, Mac, Linux, Android iOS or whatever ... exercise smart and safe computing.

But how in the heck were they even able to do it over AOL chat rooms remotely without knowing your ip or having you download anything from them or even going to their sites? I mean how can you even defend against that? A firewall and Anti spyware (or just firewall and standard OS practices if you are an apple user)? What is crazy is that these people are probably so good they could get away doing anything online and law enforcement would never be able to catch them. They could hack bank accounts, steal identities, distribute that sort of porn and I am sure they could implicit someone completely innocent as the person who made it look like they did it.mor use proxies, remote pcs, evidence removal software, etc. how on earth could the govt even be able to trace them? Plus if they were smart they would hide everything in a thumb drive and just flush it down the toilet in case by miracle they were caught slipping. I don't get why we constantly read in the media about how easy it is to catch these people when in reality it is so easy to be invisible by them if they actually use their brains and have hacking abilities. I mean how stupid do you have to be to stack illicit materials on your hard drive or in CDs? It's like they were dropped as a baby or something.

Who knows. People are afraid of change. Some people don't like Apple. I'm one of them, but I don't mind if iOS gets real, good games…that would just be silly.

I get all the reasons that iOS is the preferred mobile platform for developers, so lets not get into that discussion again…it is what it is. I think Android (which I prefer) will still be a strong alternative despite that, eventually.
Me too. I stopped frinking their foul koolaid years ago when they removed the options to strip to desktop/notebooks, and removed user-replaceable batteries. At this point I was merely miffed with them and their extortionate pricing practices esp. given how poor the specs are v. what you can get from practically any other mfg in similar price ranges.

Then came the walled garden. Still just miffed since they're generally easily jailbroken but still overpriced so still no interest.

Got into Android devices while looking for a PDA replacement.

Then came their legal douchebaggery. Now at this point I could care less if Apple is around or not as I'll NEVER EVER be touching one of their products again.

So Android or bust for the moment sine wince(whatever they happen to be calling it this month with a shiny new skin) still sucks and Metro is just FUGLY. (I think that Woz was stoned when he said it was nice…), and HP successfully pulled an EA on WebOS… … and well Blackberry… yeah whatever…

[EDIT]
Almost forgot this one isn't particularly important as their is already a gemrb port for Android that works fairly well...

So you are protesting against Apple for protection against copying that is blatantly obvious? They are not allowed to protect IP? Oh well ... everyone is allowed to 'drink their own kool aid', and you are obviously drinking the Android/Google kool aid ... you probably going around saying 'open' and other laughably cute and naive things like that as well.

Obviously that is difficult since you are definitely not buying anything from Microsoft, who has done TONS more suing than Apple, Motorola, Samsung, HTC, etc ... or is it just Apple's 'legal douchebaggery' that you oppose? Whatever ...

And the GemRB stuff is very much inferior to anything 'real' for either platform. If BGEE is no better than that ... no one should buy.

Mac viruses are on the rise. Interestingly enough, there was some hacker convention recently where they basically said that MacOS was actually the LEAST secure of the mainstream OS.

Its really just a function of opportunity. When Macs were only 5% or less of the computer population, why both to write a virus for them? More bang for your buck with the 90% of PC users. As macs gain marketshare though, they become a more and more tempting target.

The problem is that pretty much everything in Apple's products was copied from something else. iOS is a great OS, but pretty much every component of it was invented by someone that DIDN'T work for Apple. Apple just aggregated and prettied it up. Its the difference between an inventor and an innovator.

Gates said it best when Jobs went apeshit over Windows.

Their meeting was in Jobs’s conference room, where Gates found himself surrounded by ten Apple employees who were eager to watch their boss assail him. Jobs didn’t disappoint his troops. “You’re ripping us off!” he shouted. “I trusted you, and now you’re stealing from us!” Gates just sat there coolly, looking Steve in the eye, before hurling back, in his squeaky voice, what became a classic zinger. “Well, Steve, I think there’s more than one way of looking at it. I think it’s more like we both had this rich neighbor named Xerox and I broke into his house to steal the TV set and found out that you had already stolen it.”

I really hope BGEE is better than wat is offered through GemRB, if not there is no point for me to buy it. The lack of a decent user interaction through GemRB was too much for me to continue playing it.

More proof:
http://www.rsolvirginia.org/news/bulletin-board/posting-165-–-framed-for-child-porn-by-a-pc-virus/

quote:
"Watts found that while surfing the Internet for ways to play computer games without paying for them, the manager had visited a site for pirated software. It redirected visitors to child porn sites if they were inactive for a certain period."

this shet is scary as f@k. I think Apple has built-in software preventing zombifications and remote viewing and such from complete strangers?
