Inquisitor - Released on GoG

no, torturing is a core part of the game. That's a way to get evidence. Everybody does it

See, kids? It's OK. Everybody's doing it. First hit is on the house…

I swear. Between this game and Expeditions: Conquistador, it seems like half the folks around hereare going to wet themselves. Not everything is a political statement. You're not voting in favor torture by playing this game -- emphasis on the word game.

I guess if I pretend that everyone I torture is of a certain class of human that I despise, I could actually enjoy this ;) I'll wait for some reviews before deciding. I do like the looks of the game and if I can fool myself into justifying torture, maybe I can enjoy it.

I remember this Rockstar game about being prisoners being forced to kill each other for some rich people's entertainment. The killing got too graphic for me, and made me feel too much like I was the one doing it instead of the game character on screen till I had to stop (very early in the game). Lots of games make you do "evil" stuff. People draw the line different places, but even torture is just "dancing to the tune of DNA" if Dawkins is right. Of course, so is the aversion to torture, but that's neither here nor there.

TLDR; It's a game. Made for some, not so much for others. I'll wait before deciding to pick it up.

Just started playing as a priest, although I'm not sure if I'm going to stick with this character.

Do I understand correctly that the keyboard shortcuts can not be reassigned? Not sure why they have them listed under "options" if there's no options.

How do you switch between walking and running? The menu says the "R" key, but it's not working for me.

Also, what resolution are you guys playing at? I thought the default 1024x768 seemed too zoomed in. I switched to 1280x1024, but now I feel a bit too far out, and some items on the ground are somewhat hard to see. This is on a 24" LCD.

You mean i remember Arcanum wrong? I played it quite recently. This game lacks detail in the same way, for example you won't see lush forests with different types of flora, the world is also quite bleak (similar to Arcanum). D.D is lush, quite colorful and very, very detailed (a lot of objects can be picked up, interaction with the environment is extremely good). Monsters in this game are quite ugly (orcs looks terrible for example), animations too, Arcanum was weak at that too.

I was referring to your claim that it's "nowhere near" as detailed as Divine Divinity which was an exaggeration imo. Although I think I might have misunderstood what you were saying. I interpreted it as a reference to visual detail, but now I realize you were talking more about world/item interaction.

I just played Spec Ops: The Line, also a game, and it got me in the mood to be extra-uppity about games forcing you down the path of evil. Also, I'm quite not fond of torture pornography, even though it's all the rage among movie-goers these days. For this game to be more than torture porn, it would have to analyze these themes with intelligence and maturity. By that I don't mean flowery descriptions full of vulgarities but by through discussion of the implications of these actions. From everything I've seen and read about this game, this is not the case.

Since you mentioned it, I feel Conquistador has the possibility for this kind of exploration, due to it's RPG nature. I'm not sure it's there though.

Priest is the slowest char, and you haven't skilled any speed points yet, so the difference is small

I don't see other alternatives rather then the torture and for the period of time the universe of game is it seem logical, not like some one going to confess it easily knowing what awaits him next as previous executions that was witnessed was for serving as an example, or you going to brew and use elixir/serum of truth or what going to read the mind of others since you are a dragon knight?

Spec Ops isn't game where you are role playing evil it's game about reality of war where each of your decision will bring misery .Game has strong anti-war message so I don't feel any "disturbing" moment of the game is out of place. For all of you that haven't played game it's must have because of deep mature story.Sorry for total OT:).

To each his own I guess.
I love violent games and I love the fact I'll get to torture and burn people (even innocents) in this game.
But that does not entitle me to criticize people for not liking it and I see where they're coming from.
I reckon the people who posted their opinion against the torture and violence and whatnot did not insult me or criticize the fact that I like it so I respect them.

Well this is just my opinion the torture is part of the setting. The world basically has gone to hell. Cults and other groups are using magic for evil means. It's your job to purge the evil by any means.

The title says it all and if your offended then it's your own fault. This reminds me of the minority who hate Witcher 1+2 because of the sex.

I was experimenting last night. I also have a 24" monitor, and at the native resolution 1900x1200, it was WAY too zoomed out for me. I think I settled on 1440x900 or something close to that before I quit playing for the night. I might have to decrease it more.

I think I played at 1024x768. Played a bit last night, got killed twice by the first enemy I encountered. Picked up a dog companion and let him do the dirty work the next time around. Lots and lots of text to read, but it's all pretty interesting, and contrary to a review I read, it seems all pretty well-translated and coherent. The graphics are pretty solid. As mentioned earlier, I would say around the level of Divine Divinity, though not quite as good. It would be nice if there was some more directional walking animations as sometimes it looks like your character is floating towards the direction you are walking him. Not a huge deal and easily seen by watching the trailer first if anyone feels this could be a sticking point.

In the city I did a lot of investigating and picked up a lot of quests in a short period of time. I arrived to investigate a murder, then was told of a soldier's disappearance, the possible heresy of a higher ranking paladin, then about a missing child. Looks like there is going to be no shortage of things to do. I also get the sense that I am going to be have some flexibility in choosing who to blame for certain events or crimes. It all comes off very gray...at this point I can't be sure what to do. Once I ventured out of town I battled some spiders and zombie looking creatures, I became a little overwhelmed and tried to run away but my companion was killed. That's where I left off, but there seems to be a lot of potential in the game, if you don't mind a lot of reading and some serious challenge (I was on easy and it is still hard).

Looks exactly like my kind of game. Thank you very much for the impressions!
