Well, in U6P you'll find so much free food lying around that you never need to do more than press the "z" key to pick it all up. Once in your inventory, click on the food icon at the top of the screen and all the food leaves inventory and becomes part of the party rations carried by invisible servants. These servants carry your gold, lockpicks, and food at no cost to you
Well that's good to know. I've been right-clicking on each piece I pick up that didn't get added to the food count automatically.

You don't have to actively feed the party, you just have to be carrying enough food for them. Since food is incredibly easy to come by it's never actually a hassle unless you go down into a dungeon carry very little.
