Well, if indigenous tribes are permitted to hunt endangered species for religious purposes, does this mean these people are going to be permitted to infringe on copyrights?

Nope Glyphwright, they have sensible, "whatever floats your boat" approach :) Is Kopimism any more/less sensible that (just for example) Scientology? Or Church of Latter Day Saints?

Scientology was created for exploiting the system. The founder was open about this.

Within the next generation I predict that either religious exemptionalism or freedom of speech/opinion will go in the Western Civilization. The US is more likely to go the former route and Europe is more likely to go the second route.

TBH, I think Freedom of Speech has been at least partially abolished. With Political Correctness, anti-hate laws (and some of the definitions of hate are ridiculous IMO), slander, libel, etc, etc it's getting very difficult to legally speak your mind!!

Just seems a bit more blatantly self-serving even compared to Scientology. Religion is only supposed to be blatantly self-serving for any ordained or organizational leaders - it's supposed to be about sacrifice and rules for everyone else. So yeah its less sensible because they're ruining the racket for cult leaders like m... my neighbor who are doing things the way you're supposed to.

Hope y… your neighbor will make a better job of it than a Russian Orthodox nun who (a while ago) predicted that world will end in six weeks. Come on! How can any self respecting cult leader give her/himself only six weeks to enjoy fruits of their labor?

Meanwhile, in Germany, Pastafaris are still fighting for recognition. A few days ago, they were able to put up signs next to Catholic / Evangelic mass dates in a little town called Templin, all through official channels.
