Just got word that The Scoundrels Guild is on Kickstarter, which is nowhere near being funded at the moment. It is labeled an adventure-RPG, although the RPG elements appear to be on the light side. A good thing is that during the Kickstarter they already removed QTE's from the game due to the feedback they received.

Here is a list of the features according to the developer:

  • Experience the game the way you make it – your choices will have lasting and dire consequences that you will have to live with.
  • Your actions and choices will forever change the fates of all those around you.
  • Commit nefarious deeds to build your fortune in gold, and increase your reputation in the guild.
  • Dialogue choices will put your wits to the test, as you are forced to make difficult decisions on the spot.
  • Combine objects together to make new ones in a classic adventure game style or craft an item from raw materials the RPG style.
  • Choose a path of good or evil, depending on the choices you make.
  • Semi non-linear adventure game with a splash of RPG, combined to make a gripping story, which is both true to the adventure genre, but has an RPG-like feel, allowing for more room to explore the beautiful world around you, without being confined to total linear gameplay.
  • Earn or steal loot that can be used to purchase items to advance further in the game.
  • Interact freely with the world and those around you and become the role of Victor Oreh—build both platonic and romantic relationships with characters in the game. Experience exceptional voice acting and wonderful original musical score.
  • Immerse yourself in the beautiful and dangerous world of the Scoundrels Guild.

Their latest update is on the skills in the game.

Instead of a points and leveling up system, skills will be acquired over time by either purchase, or something story related. Some skills will need to be learned to progress further in the game, while others might be just for fun. Perhaps you're a bad gambler, so you acquire a higher gambling skill to better your odds. Betting in seedy illegal gambling halls is a fun pastime for the average scoundrel, but betting on a cock fight and loosing can be frustrating, so with the help of a higher gambling skill, you could almost rest assured you will pick the right rooster for the fight. If nothing else, you may have a copper shilling or two left over for a mug of ale.
Thanks Kristoph.

Female butt cheeks galore. It's all about the cheese, man. :p

It looks like the target audience is young teenage males. Well the game graphics look decent, anyway. I'll wait and see…

Hey, thieves need tight fitting clothing... Don't want anything to get snagged when you're trying to crawl through tight spaces or make a quick get away. And I imagine all the climbing, skulking, etc. they do is good for the glutes. :)

I really dig the look and overall concept of the game. The campaign page was a little light on details of gameplay mechanics, but the developer is going into more detail in the updates. The lead developer also seems very receptive to feedback from backers, which is nice.

Overall just looks to cheap and unprofessional for my taste.
Would need really good gameplay and a trailer which masks the parts which are bad (or not ready yet) as the animations & interface. A Demo might help a lot...well, if the game is any good.

Yeah, first game trailer with twerking.... Oh well, times are changing I guess. Anyway the game needs lots of work, it looks like it has some potential. I guess I will do what others are doing - just wait and see....

Love the premise but I don't think it'll take off the ground this time. It doesn't have a certain hook. Hard to quantify.
