New win10 update... What's happening?!

Win10 has been updated to the supposedly offending version, no problems so far.

To those of you experiencing problems: I would take it personally. There's nothing wrong with Windows, there's something wrong with YOU. Personally. Either that or somebody is, probably justified, sabotaging YOU. :)

Well, honestly, I don't think that, of course. But as I sad, I've discovered no problems, so if any one, as part of troubleshooting, would like me to examine things on my machine, I'm all yours. I have win10 professional edition.

I have for instance not seen the joxer's strange phone message.

EDIT: In the event log, I see on the 12th a lot of warnings, saying that "Product: Office 16 Click-to-Run Extensibility Component. The application tried to modify a protected Windows registry key", but in the end it seems the update completed successfully, and I've not seen that warning thereafter.

pibbur who claims that even if he was paranoid, that would still be no excuse for persecuting me.

Ignore warnings (yellow). The problem is errors (red) if occur frequently.

The problem I see here is that the error is a result of the patch that rolled out in some odd way, but what's even bigger problem the error is caused by something I don't use and there is no way I'd ever use (phone whatnot tool), I mean, why is that application or whatever it is even trying to run on my machine?
I want it killed, dead for good, and it's corpse removed from my PC!

Sadly, I was too busy past couple of days to research it some more. But I will get to the bottom of this one way or another.

No issue here.

joxer's rig is probably damaged from watching too much porn. :)
Perhaps a lot of particulate matter? SMOKE or some such thing? ;)

I turned on my computer today and was greeted by a countdown and a message telling me that I had xxx amount of time before Windows 10 began to install itself over my copy of Win 8.1

Wtf? I never gave permission for the upgrade. Sneaky mother*ckers...

I was able to stop it by uninstalling a specific Windows update, but seriously...

An offer you can't refuse. Sneaky indeed.

I have installed win 10 on both my win>xp computers, and it works very well, most trouble-free upgrade I've ever done. But the constant nagging about upgrading was annoying, and the good-news-now-we're-upgrading-windows-for-you-hey-I-didn't-ask-for-that made me even more annoyed. Two of the reasons I surrendered and upgraded before I had intended to. Which I suppose is what they wanted.

"meek and obedient I followed the leader down well trodden corridors into the valley of steel."

pibbur 61 who despite it all, in the end didn't regret upgrading

I tried to upgrade my win 7 to win 10 but it gave me an error. I googled it and could still do it im sure but why bother? I can't think of a single reason to really upgrade/sidegrade if it actually requires debugging from me.

@Toff, good thinking.

I've posted before, win7 does not need to be moved to win10 at all unless you're desperate to play currently nonexisting dx12 required games. By the time these games appear, you'll have a new PC with win10. There are still good reasons to upgrade though, one is if your win7 was not OEM, you should use the free upgrade so you get the free win10 license to be used in the new PC while Microsoft's offer still stands. Another is miracast which in my example didn't work on certain laptop while still win7, but now works with win10. Etc.

win8 however is pos that escaped from phones to PC and needs either to be downgraded to win7 or upgraded to win10. ASAP. Especially while upgrading to win10 is still free.

I don't f*cking believe this.

I just walked into my room to discover Windows 10 installing itself. It's already copying files so I'm guessing there's nothing I can do about it now. I was surfing the net earlier and left my computer running while I grabbed something to eat.

This isn't going to affect my installed programs is it? I'm gonna go apeshit if I've lost my saved games!

You shouldn't lose anything, I didn't when I upgraded at work (at home I installed on a new HD so).

I declined the terms and it restored my previous OS.

Shouldn't it have shown me the terms and conditions before it installed? Now I understand why so many people are pissed about the whole Win 10 thing.

People are not pissed with win10, it's great OS.

What people are pissed with is Microsoft pushing them into it without asking.
Since release of windows 8, Microsoft is treating PC like it's a phone where OS upgrades are mandatory. Dunno what got into them. This is PC and not damned phone.

While I agree with your comment to some degree, there are some things worth being pissed about - liked the forced updates they are doing and constant nagging.

In addition they added a hard-coded limit to Dx9 VRAM limits set at 4GB. This has created a major hassle for certain modded games that could go above that using ENB.

Granted a tiny fraction of people compared to the over-all group but still highly annoying. There are also some other things it does relating to gaming that I have read on various tech sites that many are not happy about but that was mostly over my head.

It is an OK OS in general but for gaming it isn't really that great.

It ask the terms before installing itself, but before installing itself it makes a pre-install director where it unpack the installation files.

I think you ment "for modding graphics it isn't…".
For gaming and modding pispoor UI in ports from consoles, I have to disagree and IMO it's great.
forced updates
Why are you so negative about it?
I love it. It's killing the modern sickness of following playthrough streams from some vain douches instead of playing games:

Exactly. Whether or not Windows 10 is a better OS is irrelevant. It's still the user's choice if and when they want to upgrade. An update should never be forced.

There should be a simple way to disable the process to update to Win 10. I'm already upgraded, but I would very irritated in your position.
