Knights of the Chalice - Gameplay Video

Knights of the Chalice is an indie 2D RPG "loosely based upon the Open Game Licence 3.5 (OGL)" that visually falls somewhere between Zelda and Ultima that we've reported on once before. Developer BlueSalamander from Heroic Fantasy Games dropped us a line to point out a new gameplay video they have on their forums.

I was already intrigued by this game (BlueSalamander had posted about it in the forums before), but after seeing the video I was impressed. I like the old school gameplay and graphics a lot. This game seems very promising.

Not sure about why this is compared to Zelda, though

. Visually, it is indeed very much like Ultima 6-7, and I was also reminded of the old SSI D&D games at times, but Zelda?

I thought it looked like Ultima VI with an extra injection of cuteness...hence, Zelda-ish. No offence intended to either Knights or Zelda.

That video is so damn cool!
The point of view still freaks me out a bit, but it was easy to get used to it in Ultima 6-7, so no problem with that.
I'm a bit disappointed with simplified D&D for the system and lack of thieves though. However, thieves are not really that good in party-based RPGs.
