and again we end up on a list with pakistan, china, russia, israel, india, (though no iran here) who we also share similarites with nuclear prolifieration, leaders in capital punishment, and all those other things that make them and us so 'safe'

So long as we are dependent on Saudi Arabia for most of our oil, we will have not choice but to assist them as they need. It really has nothing to do with democracy, it has to do with consumerism.

The Saudis would still sell you oil even if you didn't provide them with uranium, never fear. They need/want the money just as much you need the oil.

yes but saudis played a role in the september 11th attack, iranians and iraqis did not. who gets shit on. and again as you say its all about oil.

the fear though and its a good one is that whose to say the saudis will be our friends in the future, you know after oil is $300 a barrel and they have nukes or the ability to make them. haven't we learned that goverments can go through dramatic shifts in whose in charge. look at iraq/saddam who had we had an alliance with. also as the segment points out we were in the works with giving the shaw (our puppet ally) in iran dozens of reactors, and its only due to his being overthrown that they don't have them and they are not our 'buddies'

Problem is, with the growing multi-lateral economy, they could always find someone else to purchase the oil.

The saudi government did not (not say Iraq or Iran did), so I don't really see 9/11 as a problem with doing business with them.

Didn't spend much time on this but where is the inconsistancy, one of the offers made to Iran was to supply enriched uranium from Russia for their power program. The objection to Iran's program is over thier building thier own enrichment facilities that could potentially be use to make weapons grade fissiles. Under the NPT the Saudis and Iranians both have a right to civilian nuclear programs.

Oil is a fungible commodity. It doesn't matter who sells to whom, as long as everyone is connected by trade relations. The Saudis could sell it to the Chinese, who'll buy that much less from the Russians, who'll sell to the Americans.
