G4 has a video walkthrough of Dishonored with narration provided by Raph Colantonio and Harvey Smith. There's around five minutes of footage and you'll get to see some of the UI and a number of powers.
There's also a walkthrough preview over at GameSpot:
The mission that gives us our first hands-on experience with Dishonored is one called Kaldwin's Bridge. We're out to kidnap the royal physician, a guy named Sokolov whose knowledge of medicine has earned him a slightly nicer fate than Corvo's other targets. We begin by sneaking through a decrepit side street, with alleyways and crumbled buildings offering a number of pathways toward Sokolov's safe house atop the bridge. We immediately get the sense that this place has seen better days.
As we creep along, we emerge onto a street overlooking the harbor, taking in a pre-sunset view of Dishonored's steampunk city of Dunwall. It's a nice view, but all that daylight means we have to get creative with our pathway around the guards patrolling the street. Perhaps that's for the best. Dishonored uses a first-person perspective, making it tricky to tell when your entire body is cloaked in shadow even if it's dark out. Rather, this game encourages a more active approach to stealth where you're constantly soaking up details about the environment around you. You've got basic tools like the ability to poke your head around a wall or peek through keyholes, as well as more subtle aids like contextual audio clues. Indeed, sound is very important to your exploits as a crafty assassin. If a guard's voice is clear and natural, you know he's somewhere close. If that same voice turns soft and muffled, however, that's a sign that the guard has walked into another room, giving you the chance to breeze on by.
More information.

So, the player character has no body nor legs, doesn't cast any shadows, and can mantle without using his arms…

Not mentioning turning valve's wheels and opening doors without using his hands; but we're already accustomed to that...

Also, "possessing" a rat looks more like "transforming" into a rat, because it makes you able to pass through a small ventilation tunnel and then re-appear as the player character ( with clothes and weapons).

Dude, he's a supernatural assassin so he can do whatever the fuck he wants. Without casting a shadow. Capisce? ;)

Haven't had time to read up on stuff lately. Does this have a third person view or first person only?

Disappointing but not a deal breaker.

Indeed. But from that perspective it's like there weren't much progress since the 1998's Thief. And Arkane did a nice job on body awareness in Dark Messiah.

That said, we're still 4 months before release, so there's hope.

Actually, that means there isn't. They won't make big changes like that this close to release.

Well ok, there's not.
I've just read somewhere they made the decision ( not to give legs to the poor player character ) some times ago.

How exactly is that a negative?

Seems like a fun feature to play around with IMO.

I think the biggest risk for this game is that the levels -instead of a natural feel- will feel like themeparks for the player to try all those cool gadgets and abilities. Everything might turn out to be just a tad bit too conveniently set up.
BioShock partially suffered from that phenomenon at times. Let's hope they can keep a good balance between a natural level design and giving the player enough freedom to get through a level in the way they prefer (sneaky or violent or a mix of both).

I don't really like the over the top magic, would have prefered low fantasy like Thief.. Yes it might be fun to do all the crazy stuff, but it also takes away a great deal of atmosphere when you play those demi god characters, at least imo.. Just like Bioshock it will probably be good enough for a play through though.

It seems worthy enough to check out - but I'm quite underwhelmed considering the hypefest the devs are making it into.
