Campfire Games explains their development milestones for the war simulation: War of Rights - Kickstarter update #7:

Development Milestones For War of Rights

Hello and welcome to the seventh Kickstarter update for War of Rights. Before we dive into the update itself we wanted to share with you some very important milestones we've reached today! We're now over 50% funded thanks to the support of over 1,300 backers. And to make today even better, we've also been approved on Steam Greenlight! That means that all backers at Private or higher will be getting a Steam code for War of Rights once it's released. But don't forget that if we don't make it to the goal here on Kickstarter then War of Rights won't get made!

This time we’ll be talking a bit about which pledge tiers grant access to the different early test versions of the game. We have divided our testing phase into three different sections.

Closed Alpha

The earliest playable test available is the Skirmishes Phase I (Closed Alpha) test. This is rewarded exclusively to people backing us on Kickstarter from the Captain pledge tier and higher. If all goes according to plan, we hope to reach this stage within six months after the Kickstarter is over... as long as we make it to our main goal!

The Skirmishes Phase I (Closed Alpha) will feature:

• Antietam skirmish areas

• Additional weapons

• Regiment Classes (private, NCO, Flag bearer, officer)

• First iteration of the order system

Closed Beta

After the Closed Alpha has taken place and once we've taken into consideration the feedback from the players who participated in these skirmishes, we'll work hard to release the Skirmishes Phase II (Closed Beta). This part of the testing phase is available from the Sergeant pledge tier and higher. The release date for Skirmishes Phase II (Closed Beta) is tied into how testing goes during the Skirmishes Phase I (Closed Alpha).

The Skirmishes Phase II (Closed Beta) will feature:

• Additional skirmish areas

• Additional weapons

• More regiment variations

• Additional specialized classes (Sharpshooters)

• 2nd iteration of the order system

"At the edge of the corn, a long line of men in butternut and gray rose up from the ground. Simultaneously, the hostile battle lines opened a tremendous fire upon each other. Men, I can not say fell; they were knocked out of the ranks by dozens.

The 14th Brooklyn, the red legged Zouaves, came into my line on a run, closing the awful gaps. Now is the pinch, men and officers of New York and Wisconsin are fused into a common mass in the frantic struggle to shoot fast. Men are falling in their places or running back into the corn."

Steam Early Access - Open Beta

The last early test phase for the game will be the launch on the Steam Early Access platform. This is available from the Corporal pledge tier and higher. Early access marks an incredible important moment in the development of War of Rights. This is the time when a great amount of new players will be introduced to the game for the first time – and hopefully join the already seasoned players!

From Campfire Games:
October 30 2015, Copenhagen, Denmark - Today Campfire Games is excited to announce that War of Rights has been approved on Steam Greenlight along with reaching 50% funding for their Kickstarter campaign for this American Civil War FPS game.

"This has been a remarkable day for us! Thanks to our fans and backers we have managed to get approved on Steam Greenlight, on the same day we achieved 50% funding!" said Emil Alexander Hansen, co-founder and technical artist at Campfire Games. "We're very happy with the way the campaign has gone and very hopeful that we can achieve our funding and bring this game to life."

The team at Campfire Games is also thrilled about the Collector's Edition Box Set for War of Rights being offered at the Kickstarter campaign that will include several items such as a physical copy of the game, a soundtrack CD, a poster signed by the team, Private, NCO and Officer papers for either side of the conflict, a War of Rights mouse pad and even a bullet from the American Civil War packed in a paper cartridge!

War of Rights is a multiplayer game set around the tumultuous period of the American Civil War, during the Maryland Campaign of September 1862. Campfire Games is devoted to presenting the gruesome and glorious elements of the period, while maintaining the highest level of historical accuracy and realism as possible thanks to the wonders of CRYENGINE.

It'd be fun to have a unit of Berdan's Sharpshooters available in the game. They were regiments of Union snipers using Sharps breech loading rifles. They could out fire a muzzle loader by about 10 to1. Deadly accurate.
