Chinese technology is improving really fast and they have their own space programs as well. When their military power goes to the same level as the US or above the power balance will shift rather dramatically as none will dare to protest when they claim more and more of the asian sea's for example. Not that many dare to protest as it is now. But again they'll have nothing to gain from starting world war 3 they are still depending a lot on other countries in every way.
