The Totally NEW Team Corwin Thread

I fear that I must say that I'm out until I've bought myself a better card. Please don't count on me for this month.

I'm currently feeling a mixture between stubbornness and helplessness - will go back to my older games (read : my back catalogue) which are playable on my "office PC". I don't dare running DDO on it.

On a lighter note my usual reports from the DDO site & store :

Yep. Oh well, shift happens.

Elithrar is in the last rank to 20, IIRC. I ran Fireflash out with him and Corwin for a bit this morning. So if we end up running short, I'd suggest some Vale quests to get him to 20, then switch to the 21+ group.

I propose we run Vale quests on a different difficulty than we have already done. Then we get first time bonus. We have already got the bravery bonus.

I just did Coal Chamber and Rainbow in the Dark on normal on my level 20 paladin and still got more than 10k XP. Vale are good quests for XP. A bonus is that we get signet stone pie pieces.

If I recall correctly we have done all Vale quests except Running With Devils on elite. So we could do these on hard and devils on elite.

If we're all here we could still run our new TR's. I've been running Vale with 2 toons a LOT lately and enjoy the simplicity of the lower level quests. :)

New TR's meaning the level 8 ones? I don't mind playing them, but I thought Reywind and maybe Azraelck wouldn't be online today? If all show then we need 2 groups.

After a delay, servers are up. Some airships will be missing amenities, but according to the launcher they should be back up as they simply haven't all loaded in yet. We shall see…

Make sure to update the client. More stuff will be broken I'm sure, but hey, it's DDO. Where breaking stuff and declaring it as working properly is job one!

*Edit* Our ship is fine, at least.

Since I know DDO I've become somewhat more humble towards bugs in general in singleplayer games …

Edit : Update 15 Patch 1 Release Notes : http://compendium.ddo.com/wiki/Release_Notes_Update_15_Patch_1_Official

* Wolves and dogs should no longer drop collectibles.
* Jariliths and Hellcats now have reduced knockdown ability, and better AI.

The Monster Manual requirements for Kobold Hunter have been reduced so that all Hunter deeds can be unlocked.
Several missing monsters from the Prologue have now been added.
# Top tier account slayer rewards now award 35 Turbine Points.
# Removed several unkillable humans from the Monster Manual.
Players no longer need to log out and back in to have their newly-purchased Monster Manuals added to their Monster Manual.

PvP

* The Grandmaster of Flowers' Everything is Nothing ability can no longer target players in PvP zones.

* Pit spike traps no longer deal more damage than intended on Epic Hard and Elite difficulties.
* Dragonshards no longer drop in the Forgotten Realms.

Beyond the Rift

* Players can now return to the Demonweb from the Underdark.

Mabar, Festival of Endless Night

* Created several new monsters for the event.
* Adjusted some monster spawn ratios.
* The festival now scales up to level 25.
* Undead giants no longer knock players back, and are less glitchy.

Reincarnation

* Fixed an issue that prevented characters from selecting a third class with a +Lesser or +Greater Heart of Wood, if they had two classes and Epic levels.

Spells

* The Earthquake spell will have a smaller impact when used against players (by Wood Woads, for example.)
* Tenser's Transformation has been changed to the following effects: You gain a +4 Alchemical bonus to Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution, a +6 Alchemical bonus to Armor Class, and proficiency with all simple and martial weapons. Your Base Attack Bonus equals your character level. Your spellcasting ability is reduced, resulting in a -2 penalty to all spell DC's, -2 to your rolls to bypass enemy Spell Resistance, and doubling the cooldown of your spells.
* The Druid spell Cold Breath no longer causes more damage than listed, and now has its proper max level set at level 15.
* The Druid spell Freezing Spray is now affected by the Enlarge, Quicken, Extend, and Heighten Metamagic feats.
* Summon Nature's Ally II-IX now shows the correct spell point cost on the base spell. This was a display issue only.

There is more in the notes, of course. I just took out what i thought would affect our gameplay most (in general). I can't say about the "Epic Levels" since I'm not there yet.

The "Wood Woads" of the "Earth Quake" spell description remind me of the "Woodwose", which are said to be an inspiration for Tolkien for the Drúedain : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_man

A few quotes :

(I get some kind of sick pleasure from healing Clerics btw. )(it's kinda funny how many of them get upset when you heal them....lol)

Sadly makeup artists are indeed nearly redundant in today's DDO ever since House Cannith released the Cosmeticatron 2000. However with the Makeup Artist Epic Destiny coming soon the top tier ability is 'Flurry of Powder Puffs', beta testers have described it as a very devastating ability.

I have to disagree. I play a rouge 12/lipstick 6/mascara 2 multiclass, and it's very efficient.

Although the Tasha's Hideous Laughter effect generated by the lipstick's Duckface prestige enhancement helps a lot.

You have to be kidding
OP, I agree that, at first blush, rouges have a lot in common with Artifacers, but any similarities are merely cosmetic.
Rouges are essential to the foundation of D&D and DDO.
In fact, I can't imagine the complexion of DDO with rouges.
They compliment every other class and add a lot of color to the game.
I always include them when I make-up a party.
I actually believe that rouges are the most overpowdered class in the game (and they are unparalleled in concealment).
The other day eye shadowed a rouge named "Rosy" just to see the class in action; she utterly creamed the Demon Queen all by herself.
A raid party of rouges could easily mascara Velah in a matter of seconds, and I bet even Lloth would get powdered.
(The only blemish on this class is their tendency to run).

The Art of the Face?

Are rouges Redundant?
Yes. You can get a much better shine with a nice face cream.

I haven't read all of the replies, but IMO rouges are redundant if you already have nice rosy cheeks.

For pale masters in particular, I think rouge might be a nice touch when in public so that you don't scare all the kids.

Rogues aren't DPS.

Their mussles are too small. They only good for traps.

Arties can at least let the real DPS hit deadlier while getting the traps. While staying out of the way of us fighters and barbs (oh, and HOrc Fire-Stance Monks I guess. All other monks don't count) with their fey little crossbows, as a nerd should. I don't get why these cowardly rogues think they have the right to melee. Not with weak wittle tickle hits like theirs. They just git squish and I lauff.

Rogues are redundant. Useless nancy-boy specialist is useless cept for opening the locks to meh lootz (sometimes). Gimme an arty if I have to tow one of j0s around.

That's actually quite funny and very clever if you get the distinction between Rogue and Rouge!! :)

… I just saw that a part of the DDO forum's users now has the sub-title "Pirate Cursed" - is Pirate Talk Day there again ? ;)

Quote from there :

To err is to be human.
To Arr! is to be pirate!

From a thread about "why Barbarians are faster" : http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=392908

Why paladins are slower:

Simple. They take their time to build a loving relationship
and don't want to rush into a commitment. Because they
value a lady for qualities in addition to their looks the paladin
needs to form an emotional connection before "taking action".

Once they are involved though it's pretty much a guarantee that
they will take care of business seeing that they are sensitive to
the other person being fulfilled.

Why barbs are fast:

What lady can resist the broody guy in the leather jacket?

Why monks are fast:

They spent all their time growing up at a monastery and get
excited too fast due to never having seen a lady.

....wait...what kind of speed were we talking about?
