Hello,

I plan to buy a new video card next week. My System right ow consists of a Core2Duo E6750@2,66 Ghz, 2 gigs of Ram, a Gainward 7900 Gt 256 Ram Videocard and a 17" Monitor.

So, does anyone have any recommendations. I`m thinking fo buying an Ati/AMD 4850 card, however I?m not sure if its too noisy, which I really hate......

So, Any recommendations ??

Thanks in Advance,
L.

I have a core duo 8400 / 3GHz
and a 8800 GT video card 512 MB Ram
and an Asus P5K motherboard with 4GB Ram.

fast, stable and not so expensive -> ca. 700 Euro for the complete computer
(without monitor) -> I bought the system 6 month ago.

Even though I don't own an AMD/ATI 4850 I would flat out recommend it based on various reviews. I can't say anything about noise levels as they may very well be different between card makers. Best option is to find user reviews. One thing that strikes me though. Is your your monitor a TFT screen? If this is the case you probably be capped at 1280x1024 which most cards out there should be able to handle sufficiently. Still I wouldn't recommend anything below 8800GT or 3850 for gaming.

OK So I bought myself a Gainward 4850 Golden Sample, which is slightly overclocked and has a custom cooler.... Its pretty silent and it works like a charm......

I can recommend this card to anyone...

I think the 8800 GTS is still a great card. It's direct X 10 compatible (for what that's worth), cheap, and is probably the best video card I've ever owned. I recommend EVGA they have a nice trade-in program where you can own a card for 3 months and trade up to a better one if you choose. They make quality products also, IMO.
