Skyrim - GameInformer Summaries

The GI mag said there was unique dungeons, so I suspect this mean hand-placed loot.

They actually learned from the Gothic series ??

I don`t care, even if it`s got Oblivion`s flaws, "potato heads", broken this`n that and whatever else haters :) will never tire of reminding me, I`ll play it to bits anyway.

It`s an only (ok, Fallout) coherent, truly open, open world out there. I`m in.

Well, unless they go Bioware on this, and spam it with in-game DLC nagging. But you won`t do that Bethsoft, right? RIGHT???

TES games usually come with a construction set and they are very, very easy to mod , what Beth will release in DLC will be for sure made for free (and better) by moders.

Modding is definitely another reason to get it/excuse some flaws, but what I meant was the immersion-breaking hard sell tactics of Warden`s Keep from DA:O. If Bethsoft decided to go with this model they probably`d make it mod-resistant.

Let`s hope it won`t come to this.

The only thing I don't really like is the area itself. Don't get me wrong, I love me some snowy mountains and what not - but it seems to me that's pretty much all there is at Skyrim. I had the same problem with Morrowind - which was largely grey/brown and the ashlands. I crave variety, and I prefer lush, vibrant areas if they have to limit themselves to these regions.
I have exactly the same thoughts, and that was something significantly in Oblivion's favour for me.

Skyrim should look something like a hi-res version of Bloodmoon i believe, so it should have areas that arent covered in snow too..

Personally i dislike jungle (like Crysis) and desert themes in games, i really prefer more darker, european looking places (like in Gothic2 or the STALKER games), i think its going to be perfect ;)

Todd referred to Alaska when talking about how Skyrim will look like in Game Informer.

More like coming back to Morrowind, I think. There was a lot of hand placed loot in that game. Some people claimed it made it too easy, because on replay you knew where to look.

Arena & Daggerfall also ?
No CS for Arena or Daggerfall.

I hope you're right. But I personally can't jump to the conclusion that there will be hand-placed loot when all that's said in the article is that dungeons will be more 'unique' - because the word 'unique' alone is vague and can mean a lot of different things.

I'm like you. I seem to never tire of medieval fantasy settings. I think I could play CRPGs set in forests and mountains for the rest of my life.

I enjoyed the gameplay of Morrowind, but really disliked the visual look of the terrain - I'm probably in the minority as it seems most gamers really liked the Morrowind setting.

And I've probably missed out on some great sci-fi CRPGs because I don't care for sci-fi settings for CRPGs.

Well that's what mods are for ;) i've got terrain packs for most regions, new grasses and trees. At least it looks a bit better then. Here's how Solstheim looks on my install right now:

I imagine that Skyrim will look similar, but hopefully better ;)

Please use some of the development money to hire a decent writer and a decent story-teller this time around!

+1. This goes for most games in existance though.

Exactly what I think when people moan about this in Oblivion. it was average - but not THAT bad.

Plus, ok, DA:O might have extensive dialogue branches etc, but how far can you run if you set & go in one direction? You can`t have it all (or maybe you can, but give`em time) & I`ll always prefer freedom of the massive world to bickering with Morrigan :)
