Drakensang Question on Weapon Stats

I'm new to this game and the TDE rules, so here goes:
I have a 'Fighting staff', and the stat for damage reads: "1D+2 (1W+2 with strength 12)". It then goes on to say: "Strength Bonus: 12/4".
I pretty much understand all this from the old D&D games, but in the first stat above what does the 'W' signify? Maybe someone could explain in relation to the entire weapon stats...? Thanks a lot.

actually I don't think D&D knowledge will help you much here.
1D+2 is the same as 1W+2, it's just a translation glitch, basically 3-8 damage. Strength bonus 12/4 means that you get an extra +1 every 4 points of STR above 12 (so +1 at 16 STR). If you had 16 STR then the first line would have read (without the typo) "1D+2 (1D+3 with strength 16)"

W = Würfel = D = Dice

German terms :

1W = 1 six-sided Würfel, sometimes only W

Usually there's 1W20 or shortened to W20 meaning = one 20-sided Würfel

Yes, but with 'Fixpack' I have to start completely over, right?
Not really something I want to do at this point...

No, you don't need to start over actually and all localization fixes at least will be updated instantly. But of course you will some of the changes unless you start a new game.
