RPG Codex - Golden Age SSI AD&D CRPGs

I don't know how many of you are aware of it, but SSI also released "Unlimited Adventures," which was a toolset to create your own games in the GoldBox engine. There are some fantastic games made for the engine. The community is still alive, and to date, there are 1,000+ games that can be played, including a few that rival even the best of what the GoldBox games could offer.

The community forums for UA can be found here: http://ua.reonis.com

There are links to everything you'd want to know about using UA to both play and design your own GoldBox style games.

A good post with a timely bit of information, ProphetSword - thanks for the link and reminder.

I've played with UA a little bit and sampled some of the fan-made mods over the years. I remember playing a Goldbox version of Temple of Elemental Evil for example. It's definitely something I can easily get into the mindset of playing again simply due to the purity of the gameplay.

Shadow Sorcerer was pretty awful, but Heroes of the Lance had great music ;)

I concur, my good fellow. Behold, the version I knew (C64) (by Ben Daglish)

I'm aware of that - and I think it's wonderful.

Unfortunately, I don't think I can go back to that engine today... Too much has happened since those good old days....
