Interesting approach. The starting price is extremely low, so I assume whatever roalties they get must be significant. Still, it should be a better model for smaller developers.

The CryEngine is the new king of engines. It's even cheaper to sub to it than to a MMO. And lot more cheaper than Unity ($75/months).

The $9/month is royalty-free and you get access to all the features. This is about $108/year for one dev, with no royalty on game sales. For a 3 year project with 100 dev we are talking a mere $32400. It's like a joke, expect a lot more CryEngine kickstarter from now on and LOT more professional ones.

This.

Imagine what the world would look like if potential developers (and all players are that) would ditch stupid MMOs and sub to an engine instead. In fact don't imagine. Expect.

It's an subscription service, too ? Didn't know that.

At $19/month per dev and you have to give %5 royalties on game sales gross revenue (include box sales, cash-shop and ads revenue).

CryTek clearly want to take over the market with their pricing. In the end, we the gamers are the winners though.

Well, not if they raise the prices and begin to milk developers, though.
