Anyone played the beta/alpha and can share impressions ?

I've read very little about this game and it seems it will have a really hard time impressing us after Harebrained's games.

Well it looks like the game is no longer an MMO. Its called a Co-op tactical game now, and that's probably why they decided to change the name before release.
Enter the world of Shadowrun - the Pen and Paper cyberpunk RPG classic and lead your team of runners into deadly mission or face them together with your friends in tactical co-op. Set in the dystopian near future of our world, where magic has awakened.
I checked the Steam comments, and backers are not to happy with the developer.

"We have had repeated comments and complaints from people who are expecting our game to be a full-scale, open world MMO in the style of World of Warcraft. Now we have made it (hopefully) clear from the beginning that this is not the case with our limited budget, but a lot of folks don’t really read past the name tag, assume a game with “online” in the title should be a massive open world game and then go berserk on us for not delivering what they envisioned."

They also released a new kickstarter update with more information.

Stop the presses!
Some of you might recall that in January we asked about the name Shadowrun Online or a possible different name. Back then we proposed Shadowrun 2076, but after reading through all your feedback and suggestions (thank you again for your great ideas!) and some more internal discussions, we headed your call and came up with a new one a good number of people seemed to like. So from this day forward, Shadowrun Online will be known as – drumroll, please! – Shadowrun Chronicles!

We think the new title does away with a couple of associations people had with “Online” that didn’t apply to our game and which led to some disappointed buyers and backers. “Chronicles” expresses our goal to continue to tell stories and release new content evolving from the collective actions of our players over time. As many of you have already surmised, the first chapter will be called Boston Lockdown, making the full title of our launch version Shadowrun Chronicles: Boston Lockdown.

Everything I read on the game said it is lacking in everything. SRR has combat and story at least 2x better

Well, to be fair, all of the story elements they have been working on have intentionally not been included in the Early Access version to avoid spoiling things before the official release… so there's currently not much story to speak of. Of course, it is still very likely that story will pale in comparison to SRR or Dragonfall.

And from skimming the Steam reviews, it seems like some like the combat.

Not saying this is going to be a masterpiece like DF;DC, I'm just saying might as well wait until the game is actually released and gets some reviews of the full version, before writing it off completely.
