What games are you playing now?

Currently playing way too many games at once ;)

Warhammer 40K Dawn of War: Dark Crusade (never played this expansion for some reason). Just the fact that it's the WH universe makes this game at least 50% better than what it probably is.

Dragon's Dogma. Not as good as i initially thought (after 15h). One of those games i probably won't finish.

SpellForce 2. Decent but not great. I dislike how you don't get XP for killing mobs, it makes combat very unfulfilling, the 2 skill trees are 100% linear it seems - super boring. The game feels very linear too. In many ways it feels very polished though, and the pathfinding is probably the most impressive i've seen in a game, UI is very good. Everything in this game is extremely generic and very, very familiar, everything from graphics to music to quests.

That does sound like fun. I used to have a huge collection of arcade games on my PC for MAME, but I don't know what I did with the DVDs I burned them to. Double Dragon and Ikari Warriors were both arcade favorites of mine when I was a kid, and I also played the hell out of the NES version of IW.

There was also a sequel to IW that took place in a sci-fi environment. Can't remember the name, but it was almost as good as the first game.

Ikari Warriors II was set in space yes. ZSNES, MAME and Dolphin is usually installed on my computer :)

Forgot that i'm also playing Project Zomboid. I absolutely love this game, very atmospheric and has the rare "create the story as you play" gameplay that i really enjoy. When i was a kid one of my favorite games was Friday 13th on C64, it got shit reviews but i thought it was fantastic, a very unique idea, even to this date. PZ reminds me a bit of that game.

I played The Secret World beta - and now I'm ready to buy it. So, I'll be playing that for a while at least :)

I've advanced quite a bit in PST, and have reached Baator.
But those abishai are absolutely kicking my ass. Am I too low level or what? I've not had this much trouble in a while. Except for maybe in the Prison looking for Trias, where I pretty much had to exploit that I'm immortal because I couldn't heal myself, all my party members were almost dead, so i just had to kill a couple of guards, die, get resurrected and rinse and repeat.

EDIT: Nevermind, I managed to get passed that by picking them off one by one. And the Cornugons aren't that powerful either. Casting 2-3 spells seems to put them down. But picking off the abishai one by one is essential. Anyway, I'm at the column of skulls. God this game is imaginative.

Do you have to loose a party member at the column? It seems I either loose one of the party members or lose some of my strength. And if I ask about myself I lose the Vhailor the Mercykiller who just recently joined and is kicking all sorts of abishai a**, I might add. So I don't want to loose him.

EDIT2:
I've finally managed to defeat Trias after a dozen or more attempts. I kept having my whole party wiped by his spells, so I finally had the idea to go in with Annah in stealth mode, and back-stab him (40+ damage). And then rushed him with everyone, except the mages who pelted him with spells. Btw, I love the idea of having a cinematic for certain spells, like the meteor bombardment one.

Anna in stealth mode backstabbing was my solution for a few tough encounters. I think I decided against incorporating Vhailor for role playing reasons.

I'm not sure why I took Vhailor, but he kicked ass for me in Baator. But I killed him later at the Pillar of Skulls when he attacked me. So I lost Ignus there, because I took Vhailor, and now I'm one party member shy. But I've entered the Fortress of Regrets just now, and am having one of those hair-pulling moments. I keep dying while trying to navigate the horde of Shadows following me, the Nameless One keeps getting stuck in certain points of the map, and when I finally get to the final lever at the north of the Fortress, it should teleport me away, but for some reason the Shadows still attack me. So the game registers that as a death. I get resurrected outside the Fortress but after dying one last time I get incapacitated and cannot finish the game. So I have to reload and redo all that Shadow dodging. It's annoying as hell. The only stupid map design choice I've seen so far and it's really unnerving.

Also if I ever replay the game, I'll have to remove the hi-rez mods I have installed. All through the game I've had nothing but stuttering and screen blackouts whenever magic is casted. Awful experience, so I guess I'll have to make to with low res but hopefully it will be better gameplay.

A friend just upgraded his Mac and the latest can dualboot into win7 to work like a decent gaming computer. As a result we have played Dead Island with the same four who ran through Borderlands together and we are also playing some Arma 2 on the side. Arma 2 is a war simulator more than a game. It's the most authentic wargame out there with a ton of keys and a ton of bugs. At it's best it offers a coop experience like no other, whether you drive an armored vehicle with your friend in the turret, take your team in a helicopter or do a sneaking mission in the middle of the night.

Dammit, I think I've broken my questline.
EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out. :D

I've talked with my 3 incarnations inside the crystal, have absorbed 2 of them, but now the practical one can only end in two ways, both of which end in me not being able to progress further. If I accept to be absorbed I get the "you're incapacitated and can't continue the game". If I attempt to absorb him I fail because I'm not powerful enough. And if I fight him he kills me in couple of strikes. What the hell do I do?

You have to use the sphere to get your original memories back. And then gain 8 or so level ups. But I wonder what would have happened if I were to have lost the sphere. I mean, no one made any suggestion that it would be an important thing in the questline. Can you drop it somewhere and leave it? Would that cause the game to break?

I got started playing Demise: Ascension last night and played for a few hours. Really enjoying it so far! I made a lengthy post with my first impressions of it in the indie RPG section if anyone's interested.

Just started Risen 2 last night…aren't impressed with the combat system so far, but I'm sure the PB touches and their innate sense of adventure will win me over and somewhat overshadow the flaws.

I'm also still playing Legend of Grimrock on hard/hardcore with my second party featuring two specialist casters and loving it.
My characters are about level 10 and I've just hit the blue-dinosaur stalking Temple area. Once I get some more bombs, I think I might retrace my steps back to the "Fighter's Challenge" and give it a more serious shot. The first time I tried the fight, it was such a brutal rout! :D

Playing Mass Effect and really enjoying it. I've only just started exploring the galaxy after completing all the random quests on the Citadel.

I've got a question though... Is there any degree of level scaling in this game?

The reason I ask is because I've stumbled upon the "Bring Down the Sky" DLC mission early on, and I'm getting one-shot killed by some of the enemies. It's pretty dumb imo that they would place that mission so close to the Citadel and not give you any warning about what it is. I didn't realize it was the DLC until after I landed on the asteroid and started the mission.

What? This is your first playthrough?!?

IIRC this is almost totally scaled for all content - with the usual +/- your level depending on intended challenge. I can't be certain of the particulars - but there is most definitely heavy level scaling - given how you can explore most of the locations in the order you desire.

I've played this DLC and I do recall it was somewhat harder than most missions. That said, I can't say if it's specifically changed in terms of the overall scaling. I shouldn't think so, though.

It depends on the difficulty level (I always play Veteran) - and if you go for one of the higher ones, you'll probably want to keep a constant eye on weapon upgrades and armor upgrades.

I know you've played a bit already- but I highly recommend maxing out either the Paragon or the Renegade skills as they open up - because it gives you early access to some powerful weapons/upgrades. You can get by without them - but they do make a difference.

It'll be my first full playthrough :). I've played up to or slightly past this point several times in the past, but I didn't have the DLC installed before. I always wanted to have the full trilogy before I played them.

Bring Down the Sky must be meant for higher levels levels though. On Veteran difficulty, my squadmates are going down almost instantly, and I'm dead 1 or 2 shots later. What really sucks is that you can't leave once you start the mission. I guess I'm going back to an earlier save.

Overall I'm loving the game though. It's sad to know the series is mostly downhill afterwards.

Currently about 9h into "Avernum: Escape from the Pit". It is better than Avadon, mainly due to the fact that you have a larger party, which allows for more tactical options.

I finished a few weeks ago a full run through of ME1, ME2, and ME3 up to where 'new' ending starts. After first runthrough (a while ago) that I found it best to leave Bring Down the Sky to almost last as the bottom edge for me of 'scaling' was similar if a low character, easy to die!
