Arcania - Name Change

Apparently Arcania: A Gothic Tale has been changed to ArcaniA: Gothic 4, acknowledging a more formal link with the Gothic series. This came out of CD Projekt's Spring Conference and has been confirmed by the JoWood community manager, according to Polish source Gothic Site and the JoWood forums.

And frankly after Gothic 3 being associated with Gothic isn't necessarily all that good of a thing.

Actually, the ArcaniA bit has always been there - I just usually don't bother to type it.

Probably a good idea. Cash in on whatever brand name recognition they can.

At least that was some state of the discussion I remember, when PB and Jowood discussed their "divorce".

I think that is correct, but with legal matters things could change.

I believe noone actually cares what the name of the game will be as long as:
- it's not unfinished
- it has less bugs than Gothic 3

I played Gothic 3 unpatched without a single bug people are always bitching about.

Either way, it was ten times better than Morrowind/Oblivion crap I had to sit through before so G3 is cool in my book. As for G4, seen the developer videos, looked pretty much like Gothic 3 with minor tweaks (and the visuals looked like ass in comparison to Risen, but that could just be the video compression).
