Vanguard - Forums to Close @ Official Site

Sigil has announced that the official Vanguard: Saga of Heroes forums are to close in preparation for the game's launch.

Greetings Everyone!
On January 16th, 2007 the Official Vanguard Forums will close. We’re excited to provide this opportunity before launch for the community and our Affiliated Sites to adjust and familiarize themselves with one another. The Affiliated Fansites are dedicated to serving the community and its needs and will be the primary source for information and discussion about Vanguard; while the program will change and grow this goal will remain the same.
We will provide a seamless network that promotes an active community without the hassle of finding information when you need it. The center of this community will be the Vanguard Community Site, www.vanguardsoh.com; this site will continue to provide constant updates and links to the discussion on the sites that concern the community. In addition to updating the site with links and news we will provide the community with tools to find the Fansite that is right for them. We understand there will be questions and concerns, and invite the community to share them with us here and we will be happy to answer as many as we can.

They are expecting so many questions and complaints that they are being proactive and taking the phone off the hook before launch?

That sounds like a very silly move to make…

I agree, it's very worrying when that happens. Can you imagine Bethsoft, for example, closing their official forums, (much as they might like to)!!

On a more positive note, vanguard could have realises that it is the game's fansite(s) which matters to fans….

The official site for vanguard will still be open ?
It is just the official forums which will close…
while tons of fansites for vanguard will (to the devs. hope)
shoot up all over the internet.

Fansites are fine, for fans, but if I buy a game and want to complain about a problem, then I would expect to be able to do so on the official site!!

But the game hasn't launched - they probably just want to make sure everything is set . Most betas have special places for the primary beta users to contact … so they just don't need the massive flurry of stuff now.
