… heute. Und der Pibbur ist ein Berliner- Und er hofft das er Deutsch nicht vergessen hat - or something like that.
1253: Here comes Mindaugas, the one an only. King of Lithuania.
1348. Pope Clemens protects Jews (incorrectly) assumed to be hind the black plague. We all know it was Yersinia. And some flees. And some rats.
1785: Here comes the USD
1885: First successful vaccine against rabies, which was good, as rabies is still number one on my list of most lethal infections. Only 6 known cases where a patient survived after onset of neurological symptoms. Fortunately immunotherapy is usually effective in the presymptomatic phase.
1947: Here comes the AK-47
2003: Eupatoria has a message for you. "You" being Hip 4872, HD 245409, 55 Cancri, HD 10307 and 47 Ursae Majoris,

1892: Spanish empire of Asia is falling
1898: US paves the ground for Obama's precidency
1928: Here comes sliced bread!
1946: Howard Hughes, still alive and kicking
1954: Half a year before Pibbur was born things are all right on radio
1959: And everything under the sun is in tune, but Regulus is eclipsed by Venus
2011: Java 7. I don't like it.

… the day when Pibbur ponders how many surrealists it takes to change a lightbulb.
1948: US Air Force accepts its first female recruits into a program called Women in the Air Force (WAF). Strange. I've always thought "WAF" stands for "Wife Acceptance Factor", a concept of utmost importance to (male) geeks.
1966: Prince Charles Ndizi kicks a**. In this particular case the a** belonging to his father, the has-been wannabe king of Burundi.
1982: Saddam Hussein is stillo alive and kickimg.
1994: Dear Leader, Father, General and Supreme beibg of North Korea goes forth.
2011: 107.01.28th birthday of S. Dali.
Here comes …
1978: Gwen Cooper.
46.000.000 googles for "girafe"
59.900.000 googles for "bathtub"
23.300.000 googles for "machine tools"

… ein Tag auf der Spree. And the pibbur has seen the Washing Machine, the Dolly Parton kindergarten and the Federal Snake. Now, this is where you're supposed to say "What?" (or something like that). Except if you're German, at least if you're a Berliner, in which case you're supposed to know what I'm talking about.

… dagen pibbur kommer hem. Til Norge. Til Bergen! And joy over joy, it's raining heavily. Something sorely missed during our stay in the German capital. But, hopefully we will get a couple of sunny weather days, as we're changing the boards of two walls on the house, and I have to paint/stain'em. The remaining walls will be replaced next year, so it's ok with me if it after this week keeps raining until then.
It's also the Day of the Flemish Community of Belgium. I suppose that some Belgians, but definitely not all (have you got a government now?) of them will cherish this event.
What else?
0472: Roman emperor Anthemius was - surprise, surprise - actually NOT - put to death. What IS surprising was that he served for 5 years on the throne.
0972: King Charles the Simple (Where do they get these names from?) signed a treaty with king Rollo.
1405: Zheng He (unwisely?) sets out to discover the world.
1576: Martin Frobisher sights Greenland. Been there, done that.
1735: Pluto very likely is closer to the sun than Neptune.
1776: James Cook (unwisely?) sets out to discover the world ver. 3.0.
1796: US takes Detroit under terms of the Yay!! treaty!
1897: Salomon August Andree unwisely set out to discover the North Pole.
1921: The Red Army captures Mongolia from the White Army. I've GOT to finish American McGee's Alice and the sequel!!
1930: *hesitates for a looong time. Takes a deep breath* AustraliancricketplayerwhocalledhimselfDonBradmans cores309runsinaday. *Exhales, relieved*
1960: Harper Lee writes a howto regarding the killing of Mockingbirds.
Notable first time appearances:
1914: Gøril Havrevold
1921: Petter Hugsted
1923: Arnt Aamot
1924: Elonore Bjartveit
1933: Else Kveine
1949: Petter Løvik
1968: Terje Viken
Notable last time appearances:

When the Wiederfvereinigung took place - I mean the celebration of it - I was watching it on TV on the Isle Of Wight in south England.
We had been on a school trip there. It was a great time, imho.
