A new mod i'm working on

It's ~300MB so far, ~340 new textures (1024x1024 and 2048x2048 resolution). It also replaces a few of the flora 3D models with new that makes grass and rye 3x as dense.

Main features:

* New Flora
* New Skies
* Enhanced monster textures: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
* Enhanced player and NPC clothes / armors: 1, 2
* Enhanced or replaced misc items (hilts, food, bowls etc)
* Enhanced weapon textures
* Most rocks and other lanscape textures such as roads/ground textures are replaced.
* Many city textures are replaced.

More screens:

Looks great so far but I'd like more before and after screens to see if you've somehow made them brighter or "happier".

Multiupload is a useful file hosting site.
Filevo is a personal favourite but the limit is strictly 200 Mb.

I'd just like to interject here and point out that I'm not going to say anything to spoil the mood, Chief. I'll just float here and watch. Don't mind me, just sitting here, floating and watching, that's me.

Thanks, i'll take a look at those sites.. I'm not sure if i should upload a version now and then update it or wait until its a bit more complete..

They're all, except a few, color matched to the original textures. In some cases i've used the original textures (if seamless), then copied/pasted them 4x (which makes the end result a 1024x1024 texture instead of 512x512 one).

You could use dropbox also if you want…

did you make these textures yourself?

Doesnt that require the users to have the program installed? I don't think that's versatile enough if so.

Yes, except the ones where i used the original textures.. Not all are generated from my own photos though.

Some screenshots look stunning. There have been a few fanmade texture packs over the years for Gothic I and II, but nothing nowhere near as good as this.

Yes, looks great.

World of Gothic will certainly want to host it.

Myrthos is on vacation, so I can't ask him if we want to host it too.

That'd be great Gorath

Took a break from lanscape textures and such, it gets boring and uninspiring when you do too much of it. Here's another quick mod i did that lets you alter the look of your hero:

Hero Heads v1.0
by vurt

This mod alters the look of the Nameless Hero, 9 skins to choose from.

Instructions:

* Look at the provided screenshot and choose your hero. Put The .vdf of your choice into Gothic II\Data

* Play the game

Looks great! Not sure how much you have done, but I suggest you get most of it ready for download before you offer it just because of the idiot factor you may run into.

I have seen people being pestered and criticized for not having x done yet or "taking so long". There are always those few who don't appreciate someones efforts and just don't know how to act.

Wouldn't want you getting frustrated by them.

Bart and Corwin should just admit that when it gets down to it, I will have the final say.

I'll keep at it until i get tired of it i guess. I doubt i'll recreate all textures though. I've focused on textures that you see a lot of, like the ground, rock, flora but also barrels, stairs, roofs. Textures that are darker looks more acceptable in low-res imo, so i might leave out quite a few of those..

If someone has a special request of a texture or textures you really think need to be prioritzied you're welcome to post that here (maybe even provide a screen , a save game or a cheat for that item/weapon so i can have a look at it).

Two armor/clothes retextures (before/after) that i'm working on:

http://piclair.com/data/b1e5f.jpg (needs a belt, maybe a bit too "fancy"?)

http://piclair.com/data/yv0uw.jpg

Rather than making stuff more colorful i tend to do some things a bit more desaturated. I'm not a big fan of that blue dress and i've always though that leather(?) armor looked kind of odd.

Great job! I like the old new pic comparisons. And yes, that dress might be too fancy, but what the heck.

Bart and Corwin should just admit that when it gets down to it, I will have the final say.

Terrific job with the molerats and those uhm.. big insects.I liked both clothes retextures,love the way you're keeping things desaturated.

Maybe you should try some new textures for trees since G2 has some huge forests.Also making some sharper textures just for the few important weapons like the Ore Dragon Slayer or the Wrath of Innos might be a good idea.

..And I think you'll love this site when you're done with the pack.

I'd just like to interject here and point out that I'm not going to say anything to spoil the mood, Chief. I'll just float here and watch. Don't mind me, just sitting here, floating and watching, that's me.

Your texture pack looks so awesome that I won't have a choice but to re-install the whole thing to experience it anew!

Thank.

I like the old field raider more, feels a bit more like an insect. The other retextures are really nice!

Kostaz: the flora was the first thing i retextured

Tolknaz: hmm i've never really liked the old field raider texture tbh. I think the new one looks more bug-like, maybe it's becase (in my brain) they're supposed to be dark and shiny and not as bright and as the original one. I also like the idea that they're more camouflaged now in most terrains.. But i might end up with a different texture in the end.

Some other rextures (some are just "enchanced" versions of the original textures)

http://piclair.com/data/kdzxy.jpg
http://piclair.com/data/6mz0n.jpg
http://piclair.com/data/40zf3.jpg

..not final yet though.

Thanks for the hard work. I know I will be grabbing your pak once you are done, just to see the changes, even if I don't play the game all the way through.

@ Kostaz, thanks for the link. Maybe you could post that in the tech help forum as well. I have needed something like that in the past for other projects. It will get lost in this thread over time I fear.

Bart and Corwin should just admit that when it gets down to it, I will have the final say.
