Flare - Indie Action/RPG
March 16th, 2011, 09:47
Michal writes in about Flare, an indie hack'n'slasher that is still in development but you can grab v0.12 to play with. It's quite attractive for an indie game and looks worth checking out.

The game is excellent
Its basically no bull - diablo 1 clone - but with innovative movement and targeting system.
It suffers from some bugs in targeting
And unfortunate lack of random generated levels
But concept is rock solid , i would pay $ for the release version in heart beat

Flare is not only an Action RPG but a game engine. It looks interesting and could be fun to create a few non traditional RPGs, say something based on H.P. Lovecraft or Steampunk.

I think I'll wait for a future version of this before giving it a proper look, but as always, respect to indies committing themselves to big projects.
Avencast with some moves you can perform when moving would be my perfect action-rpg… and of course all the moddy-goodness and random map generation of Torchlight ;-)
