The Witcher 2 - Geralt's New Face
April 5th, 2011, 00:46
The official Witcher 2 site has a short blurb on the development of Geralt's face from the original game to the new appearance:
When you work on something continually for a longer period of time it’s bound to change. Changes often symbolize progress, it’s no different with Geralt’s new look.More information.
When we have started working on Geralt’s face almost 10 years ago he looked different, way different than what he looks like now. His face has been slowly evolving until we reached – what we consider – a very close to original visualization of Geralt known from the books. He’s not your typical poster boy from a generic RPG game. There’s a story behind each one of those scars, he looks tired – maybe even exhausted. At the same time he looks like he’s ready for action, he’s waiting – always ready to face new challenges. The man on the cover portrays a witcher we meant to show from the very beginning. You can view the new cover here.

Looks like Charlie Sheen after a weekend of banging 7gram rocks… Seriously though, this is older news, or is it? I remember seeing a Witcher vid a few months ago of Tom Gop telling fans not to worry, Geralts face has not been changed. Geralt does look more menacing and a bit older. I'm not complaining, just curious about what was changed and when.

Don't really care about Geralt, hopefully it will be as moddable, so we can play as Abigal or Triss.

Trust me, most of the names I have been called you can't translate in any language…they're not even real words as much as a succession of violent images.

His face now looks alright , if you remember in their first release Gerald looked like a 25 year old redneck who just exit a beauty salon .

Yes, the new face is clearly designed to appeal to Gears of War fanboys. In the next game he will also be wearing space armor and wielding a chainsaw gun.

They had quite a few different faces for Geralt throughout TW2's development, why couldn't they just make them all available in the game and let the players pick the one they like best?

The scar looks a bit like an open wound. He should get a plaster on that.
Otherwise…yeah, its a face.

It'll be fun playing Grandpa Geralt. I wonder if we have new potions, like Geritol (Geraltil?). I hope we can make Vesimir's Viagra, Leuvaardan's Levitra or Coleman's Cialis for this old dude

A RPG where the hero is a zombie is a concept, well why not?
EDIT: If there's some romance or more exactly sex party in the game that won't be very credible.

What's the deal with the link to the box shot? It's been unavailable for a day.
April 6th, 2011, 22:31
I can open it just fine, if we're talking about the link that's embedded in the word "here".

Yeah, that one. Another blocked IP I suppose for me…. I'll try elsewhere. Gog was blocked for a while and now it's not. Strange. Perhaps it's content related rather than IP address?

Will this affect the in-game model?

There is great need for a sarcasm font.

The box picture? It looks like it's changed since the earlier trailers. I'd say he looks older in the box shot though than in-game. I certainly agree about Scarface though. It's just ugly. I'm guessing it's not a scar, or not only a scar. Perhaps some type of scar that got worse during his mutation and so it can't heal?….
