New tune from a newer favorite of mine. I can't wait until this duo gets their debut out.

"Of Yesterday" by Orange Yellow Red

Today my moods are simultaneously sinuhetan and easygoin´, so Waltari it is.

One Day - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=KmFsr57NAD8
I love those reconciliatory chords in the chorus.

So Fine! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=om2YKvdAbvo
Still kickass!

Follow Me Inside - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=7l29RGdQkuU
Funky.

A Forest - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=vESRdaNy0ok
A perfect example of a cover song. It greatly adds to the original instead of only recreating it.

Helsinki - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=DP9vpTc2H4w
The chorus has it all.

Btw, dteowner, your new avatar is EVIL!!!

Those vocals (A Forest) are even more "distinctive" than Fat Bob's. Not sure I can abide messing with a classic, but cranking up the bpm certainly changes the mood of the song a lot.

What's wrong with Sam the Eagle?

Hehe, nothing of course.
I just find that particular expression very cool, especially the way he´s controlling what have you written in your posts .

Edit: Btw, Waltari messed with a lot of more-or-less classics and it´s usually a great fun:

Vogue/Help (live) - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=_qeOS-laT1c
No Limit/Symphony of Destruction - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=DyPhj90sOAo

Edit2: A Forest is still my favourite cover by them though.

Edit3: Aaaand, now I found out there´s one song from their awesome "Yeah! Yeah! Die! Die! Death Metal Symphony in Deep C " album from 1996 on tube:
The Top - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=2ohEtj…eature=related
This one´s not to be missed!!

Long live the edit button.

Caught a concert from Bowfire on PBS—not my usual type of music, but these people are master musicians. They appear to play everything from Celtic to jazz to bazouki music to ??? Not something I'd probably listen to while trying to relax, though.
Sally Goodin Medley
Celtic Blaze
Klezmer Medley

Thanks for the turn-on to Waltari, DeepO—like it.

Sirenia - A Shadow of your own self
Excellent goth stuff with a modern feel.

And another one: "Embrace Me" by a certain
Japanese melo-death band.

Found the excerpt from the 1st movement of Gorecki´s Symphony of Sorrowful Songs on tube. Thankfully, it´s the best part of the composition.
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zKk-w_0SpSw

Words don´t do this magnificient piece of music any justice.
The climax around the 4 minute mark gets me physically nuclear.
What a beauty!

Clearly someone that didn't grow up in the 80's…

I haven't listened to much recently. I got my cds from Birthday Massacre (excellent) and the START (a couple very high points and a healthy bit of "meh"), so I've spun them a few times, but that's about it.

Lets continue with some melodeath and progrock for a while .

This song by Disillusion from Back to the Times of Splendor (2004) has quite a lot of both :
… and the Mirror Cracked - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dREjsCoKt64

Second Life Syndrome (2005) by Riverside from Poland is a rather spectacular progmetal album:
After - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYr9UQKJvg4
Artificial Smile - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8T__s8aujg

From other newer prog acts I always liked Remedy Line by Pain of Salvation, I think they got it just right on that album:
A Trace of Blood - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzdXAsU2ADw
The video bits from Frida fit the song´s miscarriage theme exceptionally well.

Eh, not enough melodeath , I see .

Throwing one song by Soilwork for a good measure. They´re copycats but this one´s cool:
Grand Failure Anthem - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IgNlRfU-FY

Fail! Fail! Fail! Fail!

OK, just found out about this offshoot of Orchards and Vines. All you former flower children might find this worth a listen. I prefer the O&V sound, but this stuff isn't bad. Cindy just has a great voice.

The sound quality on these demos is crap, but it hints at something very special on the horizon.

I'm actually not a big fan of this remix musically, but I think the new video is tres cool:
"Chinese Letter (Ulrich Schnauss Remix)" by The High Violets

I've been listening to Marine Time Keepers the past couple days. Beautiful stuff!
