I miss Warlords

WL1
One of the very first games I enjoyed in multiplayer. Such a fantastic game, and I still consider Illuria one of the best maps of any series. I was always "Grey Dwarves" for some reason

WL2
A much bigger game than the first one, and one that I played almost as much

WL3
With DLR - this is the best of the bunch, with a great mixture of complexity and streamlined strategy gaming.

WL4
It was meh at best…..

I want a decent sequel to the excellent Dark Lords Rising, damn it!

I also miss warlords but preferred 1 & II. I Also agree IV was Meh. I've even got the Pocket PC Version of Warlords II to Play on my Dell Axim now if they would release an Android version I'd finally buy an Android device.

Good times indeed, I played the first one a lot.
I think when I tried the second, I realized the concept didn't have much room to evolve. The first one was pretty much as good as it gets. This is probably also why I never really got into the HOMM series which have almost identical gameplay. It just felt like Warlords with prettier graphics.
On a sidenote I was quite into some of SSGs more 'hardcore' wargames from the old Battlefront system, "Halls of Montezuma" in particular was a good game.
