Default SIM City used to model real-life traffic problem

February 20th, 2013, 14:14
Hello,

I found this article over here at Gamasutra and I find the approach described in it very cool :

http://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/MikeR…ic_problem.php

So, someone kind of used SIM City as a "modelling tool" to model real life traffic jams/problems in search for a solution …

Nice !

I don't believe that Gamasutra is "just another advertising site".
Although this is of course an subjective blog entry, I think that it would be interesting to try this out myself.
I won't, however, buy the upcoming SIM City game, because of its "online feature".
I'm an offline guy - apart from the two MMOs I play.

At Sandia National Labs they use a video game style simulation to develop disaster alert response systems.

I saw it demonstrated by an Alumni when she came to my university.

Besides, the local newspaper of Cologne proudly announced - in a tiny article - yesterday or the that day before - that their town's symbol, the Cologne Kathedral, or, as they put it, the "Kφlner Dom"has become an purchaseable item in the SIM City, too !
