Default Space Pioneer: Space Exploration, RTS.

The core of our game revolves around the exploration of our virtual in-game universe via an upgradable and customizable spaceship – with the player having the ability to colonize other planets using a unique combination of RTS mechanics. Most games that incorporate real time strategy into their game-play focus on squad tactics and small bases; what our game does is allow you to build humungous cities and colonies, whilst preserving all of the elements that you love from the RTS genre.

The player can build Space Stations and can come into contact with other sentient species. He/she can choose to coexist with said species, or compete with them. In order to incorporate other non-earthly sentient life, but still maintain our purpose of making an educational game, we are enlisting scientists and designers who can help us put into our game, plausible forms of alien life. It is entirely possible that in our hugely vast universe – exists other sentient forms of life, and we want to be able to represent that in our game.
Looks pretty interesting to me.

oh, and:

Created by real world astronauts, scientists and architects.
I wonder how that plays out…

Making me learn as I play my video game. Nay I say good sir that is blasphemy.
Our studio believes that it is more than possible to create a game that is both educational and entertaining. There is no need to sacrifice one for the other! It is our firm belief that this makes us pioneers in our industry – as not many games can lay claim to having both these aspects.
Seriously though the game has potential, but I'm not going to back this one. I look forward to seeing if the game gets funded though.

Created by real world astronauts
Any of those who after getting sacked or after retired finally say there is something very alien out there?

It does sound interesting. Only from the concept art I can't possibly know what it'll play like. I'll wait for some more details before I pledge.

Well… dunno bout those astronauts:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergei_Avdeyev
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aleksandr_Lazutkin

Looks good to me, no aliens mentioned on their wiki pages. And a bunch of other interesting russians are involved, too. The more critical question is: who are the actual game developers?

Also, I found this interesting Indiegogo campaign:
http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/nu…-space-station
The creator is the Director of the space pioneer team. Lets just say I'd rather support the game. Nuclear Energy Space Station… really?
Anyways, game still looks interesting. Hope they give some more details.

Astronauts exposed to high levels of cosmic radiation?

Looks like it could be interesting.

The concept art is spectacular, I love it. Also, I agree that learning while playing is not only possible, but also a very good way of doing it. I learned quite a bit of English, history and geography from various games when I grew up (Civilization 2 for example).

I might actually back this, but I would like some more information before doing so.
