Default Bound By Flame - New Screenshots

June 6th, 2013, 16:21
Two new screenshots and a piece of artwork have been made available for Spiders Studios' Bound By Flame.
From this accompanying press release we learn that the game will be shown to the press at E3.

Under development for many months now, Bound by Flame unveils more today through two new screenshots, before making its debut at E3 where it will be presented for the very first time to international press. After the recent release of Mars War Logs for download on PC (planned for release early Q3 2013 on Xbox LIVEŽ Arcade and PlayStationŽNetwork), Spiders Studio, with Bound by Flame, benefits from a bigger budget and extensive development planning allowing them to realize their great ambitions in this big action/role-playing game. Bound by Flame lets you play a mercenary possessed by a flame demon in an ambitious Dark Fantasy universe. As a victim of this demonic influence, players will have to choose between the powers offered by this evil or to reject the demonic influence, developing heroic talents instead. Dangers, and enemies becoming more terrifying and fearsome in battle, will be temptations to acquire more power by giving up part of the hero's soul to the demon. Progression of the demonic influence will be reflected by the transformation of the hero's body.
Through its different chapters, Bound by Flame will offer many quests around a primary, epic adventure. Depending on the choices made by the player and the influence of the demon, some chapters will offer different scenarios and a different experience, adding important replayability to the game. Real-time battles are impressive and dynamic. If the player begins the game knowing only the basics of combat, fire magic, and assassination, he will be able to specialize by unlocking and improving many skills and powers, through 3 different skill trees.
Bound by Flame lets the players customize their character. During the creation of their hero, players will be able choose their gender and facial characteristics. This will of course have an influence on the demon's appearance. Bound by Flame also includes a crafting system, allowing them to create and improve equipment, including their armor and weapons. Several companions will join the player during his quest, and will, depending on the player's actions, develop friendship, romance or rivalry.
Finally, the bestiary of Bound by Flame is rich and spectacular. Players will get to fight many impressive creatures: shadow dragons, liches, undead, ice creatures… epic confrontations abound. Which path will the players take? Will they lust after the demon's power and magic to annihilate their foes, or will they favor their combat skills and their bravery?
Bound by Flame is targeted for release on PC, PlayStationŽ3 and Xbox 360Ž at the end of 2013.
More information.

If Spiders can build on their competent game design and ideas in Mars War Logs, then this will be magnificant achievement and true competitor in the RPG genre.

I'm looking forward it, but have to say I don't have high expectations for it.

I'm not looking forward to it as it feels like another short game.
Sure it'll be charming like Mars was. But I want something with an epic length story in this year.

Wont happen from them I'm sorry to say that's the reason for these new shorter games. I wish a publisher would fund another large project from them also.

Hmm maybe kickstarter should be a goal, but I don't know if enough people would back their projects either.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one. I thought Mars: War Logs was better than expected, and I'm curious to see what these guys can do with a bigger budget.
