Just spotted it on Steam:

What exactly that game is?
Anyone joined the test phase?

I wondered the same thing. I read the steam page and went to their website and read what was there. I'm still not clear what the game is though.

It sounds like its an rts/RPG/ choose your own adventure game, but I'm not sure how all that works together or if that's really what it is.

If they want $20 for me to beta test the game for them they really should give a clear idea of what the game is.

Looks like a cross between Warcraft 3 and Fable.

I've joined.

There is only Tutorial available at this point and it plays a bit like The Settlers without the micro management at this point (you do see your resources in your inventory, so it would be expanded on that front later I guess).

Something different than the Settlers in the strategy part is that you have specific mines/lumber zones that you can capture and send your miners/lumberjacks to use them.

You can build barracks, churches, taverns and whatnot and in every building you can train one or more peasant to become a specialist to the building type.

Additionally you can control the soldiers/knights/monks you produce and do RPG missions with them. They do level up, and you can micro manage every single one (changing stats on level up was not yet implemented).

Enemies killed drop loot which is held in the global inventory and you can equip it to your soldiers. The equipment is class specific, so not everything can be equipped on every unit type. Every unit has its own skills and abilities (monks have spells), which you can use during combat. Didn't see any skill trees, but this would be probably too much to ask for Additionally every unit can be given commands like hold ground and patrol (mostly not working yet).

The RPG story part included in the tutorial felt like a single player RPG without the NPC interaction - you control a group of units and encounter scripted events, receive new quests and goal changes. I like the humorous approach too - the scripted events trigger story videos (done with the game engine) which are fully voiced and include a narrator. Kind of reminded me of The Bard's Tale remake. You don't get to make decisions during the events and I'm not sure if this is planned.

There are many things missing and not implemented yet, plus currently the strategy part is in dire need of some kind of an overview - that can help you find your peasants and train them easier. The minimap needs further improvement too.

Overall I like what I see and hope, given the time, that this would become a great game.

Ive had this one wishlisted for a while, it kinda seems like it has elements of the Majesty games, mixed with a more city-builder concept. Sounds good, but im going to let it cook a while before venturing forth. Lots of complaining on the forums
