TechLand has a new developer diary video about sword fighting in Hellraid.

loading…

Developers of Hellraid work hard on the game's melee combat system. This video contains an interview with the game's producer, shows a medieval sword fighting training carried out by members of the ARMA-PL association and presents glimpses of gameplay.
More information.

Excellent hit feedback on that skeleton!

I had to save this video it was so instructional, since I'm doing something similar for my game as well. Envy that giant motion capture studio / training hall and their fight instructors.

Reminds me of the motion detection work that was done for The Witcher; although gameplay wise I'm not too sure what to make of this - for some reason it has evoked my memories of the Witchhaven series.

We definitely do need to see more well crafted melee systems in the tradition of Dark Messiah to help evolve this game-play style more.

You've a goodly way to go.
